Looking back it seems like ownership messed up not making LaFleur HC

They made Vrabel coach because he was more alpha. It seemed to work out in the short term but doomed us to a revolving door of OCs. Then Vrabel the alpha got too greedy and had to be canned anyways meanwhile LaFleur developed a QB into a potential star.

  1. Hindsight. His offense when he was here was not particularly good. We’d love to have him now, but if they had made that switch at the time everyone would have called them crazy

  2. He also had time to develop with Aaron Rodgers before jumping in with Love who got to sit and learn. The NFL is brutal. No guarantee it would have worked out here. Still, I don’t necessarily disagree with OP. Many said the same thing about Art though–and look how he did in ATL.

  3. He got hired bcz he’s in the McVay coaching tree (I think… might be some other one)

But he was pretty unremarkable when he coached for us, granted, we had a weak roster

  4. I wanted LaFleur back then over Vrabel. Mainly because he was an offensive minded coach from a great system. I’m not a fan of defensive head coaches and I really hope they don’t make the same mistake again.

  5. LaFleur was a win, but at the time he was still having growing pains. That, and their front office did what Green Bay did and invested in their QB of the future. They’ve maintained stability to a franchise that has not gone without a solid QB situation since the 90’s

  6. I hated him as an OC. Was surprised when Packers hired him. These last 10 games he’s proved a lot of wrong wrong thought.

  7. Packers fans incoming. Sure LaFluer is good but our QB coach is a QB whisperer. Tom Clements the 🐐

  8. And this is exactly why we need to hire the young innovative OC this time around and stay with him through the growing pains. Ideally pair him with an older vet DC like Jim Schwartz who doesn’t have HC aspirations and can help guide them along – just like the Rams did with McVay and Wade Phillips

  9. What playing Dallas in the playoffs does to a MF

LaFleurs offense was just as bad as Downings and Kelly’s with way more talent.

    I said it.

  10. Hindsight is golden. LaFleur needed time to grow into the HC he is today. Vrabes was obvious choice back then.
