  1. I actually think someone needs to ask him to clarify the comments today. It doesn’t go from saying he’s not requesting a trade to “everyone knows I requested a trade.” Was this a misspeak? Language barrier? Or did he request a trade since saying he wasn’t requesting a trade?

  2. Love Elvis but we need this drama like we a need another hole in our head. Hope he finds a spot out there.

  3. > When asked at the time if he had requested a trade, Merzlikins reiterated the phrase “new scenario,” but on Saturday, told several reporters off the record that he may not have made himself clear and would talk later about the situation.

Sorta sounds like he was waiting for this moment to drop a 💣

  4. Yeah he’s definitely upset at somebody.

“Merzlikins was 2-0-3 in his past five games before allowing two goals and leaving with an illness after the first period of his last start against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Dec. 29.”Yes, because I’m really mad,” Merzlikins said when asked if he could continue to play well. “I’m mad internally, and I’m just blowing out that monster and I’ve got to keep going.”Merzlikins didn’t say who he was mad at but said, “Don’t worry about. Don’t worry about it. It’s personal.””

I feel like this is definitely a huge miscommunication which with further lack of communication blew up and resulted in this.

  5. Hot take: still good with trading Elvis. He’s good at times, but he’s inconsistent, getting older, apparent drama queen, and overpaid.

  6. Dude has lived here long enough, and he’s had more than enough time to think about how he wanted to phrase this. “New scenario” was the nice way of putting it, and perhaps that was the language used in his meeting with the FO, but the intent was clear. Maybe he didn’t demand a “trade”, but he demanded a “new scenario”. Maybe after this win he just stopped caring and dropped the nuance and came right out and said it.

FO has fucked this up so hard.

  7. Now that Elvis has cleaned up his glove hand and maintain his positioning better all he needs to do is focus on being less emotionally volatile in net and he would be absolutely incredible. Unfortunately he’s gonna be on the wrong side of 30 this April so it might be too late to see him reclaim his career.

With his pricetag and term a team is going to have to place a decent sized bet on him figuring it out.

  8. Feel like we fucked up by giving Elvis a contract I’m still waiting for him to “block out the haters” and live up to. He’s a head case of a goalie quickly approaching 30 and if we can get something decent from a trade then I’ll be happy

  9. You know how there’s that crazy to hot scale where the individual has to be x amount of hot to be y crazy?

I think that Elvis has surpassed his Y scale.
