  1. Do it, especially with Clay and Kahnle both in the last year of their deals

Sorry, forgot we care about the cap for some reason unless it’s…literally every other pitcher discussed this offseason lol

  2. $16.67M per for age 35-37 seasons? Guy was phenomenal in 2023 but much closer to ‘good’ the three years before that. Hard pass at that $$.

  3. If we’re gonna overpay a reliever it should be Hader. Not a 35 year old losing fastball velocity. Preferably neither tho

  4. Whoa whoa whoa there, $50M?

I mean, chase that bag man. But this would not be a smart investment for the Yankees at that price.

  5. This would be a Cashman move. God help us if we’re spending 15M a year on a 80 year old reliever

  6. Whhhhhyyyyy? He was fantastic last year I get it but he was nearly serviceable the previous 3 and the advance metrics show he won’t repeat it.

I get he is trying to cash in one more time but damn Yankees this would be dumb

  7. I just don’t see the point in spending $50m on a reliever when every single season we pull a guy like Holmes or King or Loaisiga or Hamilton or Luetge or Marinaccio out of thin air.

Would anyone really be that surprised if Cody Morris or Victor Gonzalez or whoever puts up comparable numbers to Neris next season?

  8. You could get a 29yr old Hader for about $6-8M more per season as the closer, hard pass for Neris on that ask.

  9. Paying relievers big money, by almost all metrics, is the biggest waste of budget. Yet Cashman loves and can’t stop doing it…

  10. That’s an insane amount of money for someone that lost his closing role multiple times for the Phillies a couple years ago.
