  1. For those who don’t know, GPT is one of the most connected SF Giants writers when it comes to Latin American players, and Giants Director of International Scouting Joe Salermo’s recent podcast with Roger Munter also confirmed the team’s interest (which is about all they can do). This is reliable information.

Now, when it comes to top names, players could potentially be poached, but that’s rarer than it used to be (in the Lucius Fox days). The Giants at least have a long-standing relationship, which gives them a leg up.

Also, it should be noted that young players are very hard to project and have a lot of potential issues in development, both on and off the field. This wouldn’t be like signing Shohei Ohtani or even Yamamoto. If he signs next year, 2030 would be at the early side of a potential big league debut.

But this is a nice sign.

  2. This is awesome. I’m already excited enough about Arias. One thing I like about Farhan and co, is they seem to draft and sign for upside. It would drive me nuts under Sabean and Evan’s when they would pick endless infielders with zero chance of power.
