  1. According to the Seahawks sub he seems to have a lot of the same issues as Getsy. Hopefully that’s not the case

  2. Like the hire in a vacuum but also like the fact that this doesn’t really tip our hand in terms of Caleb vs Justin for driving up the trade prices

  3. Seems like a good hire as an OC.

Kind of wondering if Poles might be looking at him as a potential HC replacement if Flus gets canned…

  4. I like the hire, but what im more excited about is the staff he may bring with him. Olson would be lit.

  5. One thing I dont see mentioned is this is a plausible upside of keeping Eberflus at HC. Regardless of how you feel about him, the fact they’re not rotating at the top menas they can move quickly and lock down their top choice in OC search.

  6. Good hire. Proved he could elevate the QB position, McVay pedigree, and what I think is important, the first guy Poles brought in to interview.

He was the clear #1 target in a search Poles was involved in from day 1, and so far his judgement when he’s on the ground floor has been pretty good.

  7. No clue if it’ll work out but good process in this hire. Waldron’s offenses consistently rank well in EPA per Play despite having Geno Smith at QB (whom Waldron and the staff helped resurrect)

Yes Seattle fans are celebrating he’s gone, but Colts fans also celebrated Eberflus leaving as their DC, and he’s clearly very good at that. We mourned Fangio leaving so Broncos fans must have been thrilled – didn’t work out. It’s not an immediate death knell.

  8. I take back what I said about not bearing down next season. We’re so fucking back baby.

  9. It will be an upgrade for us. Hawks fans are happy to see him go, but they have a much higher offensive standard than we do. We support competence, they seek greatness.

  10. Seems like a good hire in and of itself, but I still have a hard time believing in a team that is ran by Milk Toast Eberflus.

  11. Just another 40something year old with a light resume. This isn’t very exciting. He also apparently suffers from an inability to adjust throughout the game. Just like Getsy, can script a good game from the start then struggles to modify as the game goes on and looks flat.

    Awesome.

  12. Excited about this even though it sucks knowing that he might get poached if he does a good job.

  13. Hear he’s a diet Getsy doesn’t make any real adjustments come second half and seahawk fans aren’t disappointed at all that he’s gone sooo let’s see how this goes

  14. Check out the hawks page and see their fans feelings about him.

A lot of praise for play designs, but everything else sounds a lot like Getsy

  15. I’m just happy we hired someone who’s been a successful OC. They’re starting to grow brains at HH.

  16. We’ve been burned far too many times getting excited over January hires, so until the Fall I’m just excited that he checks boxes. He’s got legit OC play calling experience, it’s not running Andy Reid’s offense or showing Aaron Rodgers something on an iPad, and he was a name for a lot of places, not some former Colts towel boy that Bill Polian whispered into George’s ear.

  17. Among the list of names being thrown around for the position, his was definitely one of the better ones. I still feel like there are reasons for me to whine, but I’ll let those go for now.

  18. Can’t wait to start hating him halfway through next season because his play calling is awful.

  19. No way Waldron came here to bank his career on a fringe top 20 qb when he had all these options available. They are taking Caleb Williams, he wants to develop him.

  20. I’d liken this to when the Bears got Adam Gase. Waldron is probably up there in terms of best OCs the Bears have ever gotten. Before anyone starts huffing and puffing about that, the Bears OC list is as pathetic as the Bears QB list, so it’s not that lofty of praise. It would be nice if this one actually works out.

It will be interesting to see who the QB coach will be. That might be more of an indicator of which way the Bears are going. If it’s someone who has helped develop several young QBs I would assume they are going to draft one. If not, they may be leaning towards keeping Justin.

  21. Actual title of the article:

Source: Bears hiring ex-Seahawks OC Shane Waldron to run offense

    Saved you the click.

  22. Good OC to pair with Caleb Williams. It’s fun to be a Bears fan again!

What’s that Dak? HERE WE GOOOO
