Mike Herndon (@MikeHerndonNFL): Noteworthy that the #Titans did not get an initial interview completed with Ben Johnson, which now means that they will not be able to speak with him in any capacity until the Lions are eliminated. I think you can all but scratch his name off the list at this point.

Seems like no BJ for Tennessee

  1. This one hurts. He’s my top candidate.

Pulling for Callahan all the way now (assuming Ben Johnson is out).

  2. Yeah I think we’re the only team that he did not have an interview with.

    Definitely not a good look..

  3. Not getting an interview with the pretty much de facto top candidate isn’t great. Can’t spin that any other way really. Starting to look like Callahan might be the guy.

  4. Yeah, he isn’t interested. I’m not going to pretend it’s a “fine” situation, dude is a hot commodity and I *think* he would have helped this team, had he been interested, but if he’s not, then it’s best to just scratch his name off the list and focus on getting guys who want to be here and believe they can make a difference (players and coaches) Just my .02

  5. It’s Callahan or bust at this point. If we hire Aaron Glenn, Dan Quinn, or Thomas Brown this team is seriously fucked

  6. No surprises here, he was probably the most in demand HC to be and we know we’re not the #1 most desirable destination

I’ll be concerned when the second tranche of desirable offensive coaches – Callahan and Slowik, or the top defensive candidate (MacDonald) go elsewhere or decline. (Edit: maybe Brown too? I haven’t seen him generate a ton of interest, and that Panthers offense was putrid. But I also feel like it wasn’t set up for success either so maybe he has the tools but didn’t have the talent to execute)

For the love of god not Dan Quinn. I’m sure he’ll be a good coach but that is not who we need right now

  7. I think the commander’s new ownership is about to throw the bag at him to be their new head coach. The raiders got their guy, pats got their guy, and falcons are hard gunning for bill.

Really the only team we are competing with at this point is the chargers and maybe the bills if McDermot gets canned.

  8. Just reviewed the interview process rules. Yeah, Johnson is not coming to Titans. Of the in-person interviews, it’s got to be Callahan……right? Please not Dan Quinn!

  9. The new coach is just gonna have to eat Ben Johnson’s lunch the next time their teams play
