  1. Really, really great interview. My big 3 takeaways:

    1) He really *loves* Drysdale, but specifically went into detail that he’s a bit of a project and that the organizational goal for him is to get him playing his best hockey in 4-5 years.

    2) Keep an eye out on Hunter McDonald, when talking about guys like Zamula, Drysdale, York and Bonk as the future of our defense his immediate response was “throw McDonald into that group too, we think he’s going to be a beast for us”.

    3) He still has his eyes 100% set on the rebuild. I thought it was really interesting that he pointed out “that Dallas game isn’t something you can possibly repeat nightly, and that Colorado game was a reminder of what 2 or 3 really special players can do for a team”” (that wasn’t a quote, but paraphrasing)

  2. I highly encourage any of you to listen to this episode of the podcast, or at least the Jonesy interview segment. This front office is doing a great job of communicating with the fan base. They’ve got a vision, but it’s not enough to simply execute that vision. They want fans to understand their thinking along the way. Especially for those among the fan base who would be frustrated if/when the team doesn’t try to go all-in on this year, hearing Jonesy talk about it should soften the blow.

I imagine that these kinds of conversations will be commonplace in the years to come as Danny, Jonesy, and Torts lay the foundation for the next great Flyers team. I’m looking forward to it.
