How would no Deebo Samuel impact the NFC Championship?

Rapsheet I’m sure you’ll be all over it. Talk to you in a little bit. So the no. Deebo Samuel factor unfortunately we’ve seen it before for this 40 Niners offense. And for the question is how do you think this plays out though Jason. If they do not have him it’s huge. It’s

Massive. And Kyle went through the numbers of wins and losses without Debo yesterday. I think beyond that for Kyle Shanahan, the one reason that we love him as a head coach is an offensive mind is because his creativity and the way he draws up plays for his guys and he makes it

Easier on the quarterback. And that’s not a knock on Purdy. That’s football. You find a way to get the ball into your best player’s hands, and you let them do their thing. You watch that game versus the Packers early on, they hit Deebo Samuel with a wide receiver screen, and he

Ends up getting hurt on the play. But he picks up about ten yards and he does it all with his feet. And there’s plays where they put him in the backfield with Christian McCaffrey to hand him the ball. There’s so many nuanced plays that only work when Deebo Samuel

Number 19 is in the game about it. For the San Francisco 49 ers. We even saw play in the Packers game after Deebo went out where they put Jauan Jennings in the backfield who stepped up admirably. And Diebold’s absence. But this play as you’re watching the game and

You see it you’re like wait no no Jauan Jennings in the backfield. First carry of the entire season. The only one that he’s had. And that’s where you’re looking at the play sheet. And you’ve come up with these plays to go for a guy, and he’s not out there anymore. So

You put his replacement in there and you always say it. Next guy mentality and you have to step up for Jauan Jennings. He did that catching passes and doing all that. But the things that Deebo Samuel does, there is nobody else on that roster that can do those things. I mentioned

In that Packers game early on. They hit him on a wide receiver screen. They didn’t run another wide receiver screen in that entire game. They didn’t throw one to Brandon Aiyuk. They didn’t throw one to George Kittle. He was the guy. The reverse is all of those type of

Plays that worked so well for this 40 Niners offense, because they come at you in waves and you don’t know which guy is going to get the ball. So I look at them and I’m like, without Deebo and obviously Shanahan will come up with something. But I think it’s a huge part

Obviously of their offense that they’re going to miss, that you just can’t replace. And that’s why the numbers are what they are. When Deebo Samuel isn’t in that lineup. Because he’s not only that, he’s a juice guy. He’s a guy walking out when Trent Williams and they got the

Boombox and everything going, he brings him into to this team and an energy and a passion that is just different. And unmatched from any other player on the roster. I mean, a miss Deebo, if he doesn’t play because there’s also these fireworks he has with C.J. Gardner-johnson, the two of

Them live online, talking smack. Okay, this was after C.J. Gardner Johnson laughed at Deebo when Deebo went at, uh, gotten a little scuffle against the Browns and Trent Williams had to break it up and get involved. C.J. Gardner-johnson was on Instagram just cracking up, and then he called him a running

Back. And that’s like your chief instigator and your tough guy from the Niners offense. That’s one part of it. You mentioned Juwan Jennings. I got to give more on Jauan Jennings here, because I think he’s going to play a huge role in this game. If Brock Purdy was taken 262 in

The draft, which he was in 2020, Jauan Jennings was a 217th pick in 2020 out of Tennessee, and he is known there as third and Jawaan. He is their third down guy and he is clutch as can come. He wears number 15. When you look at footage of him last

Week, he was huge in these moments and there’s big spots what he did, they were having against the Packers. Guy was guy steps up. Of course Deebo goes down someone third down, third down, third down. It’s Joanne, it’s Joanne, it’s Joanne. And they love him there as their

Third down guy can he elevate. He’s not Deebo Samuel. He’s not a running back. He’s not a guy who’s going to play that role which is completely interchangeable with what McCaffrey does. He’s a receiver and he’s a big one at that. But take a look at his game when

They needed him most. Last week. That was a huge play over across the middle when Purdy was struggling at the time. Six targets caught five of them, 61 receiving yards and four of them went for first downs. Get to know the name now. Third and Jawaan. It might have to be

First in Jawaan and second in Jawaan. This guy was a stud on Saturday night when they needed him most. But if Debo can’t go like you said, it’s next man up and Jauan Jennings is that next man. Jauan Jennings is great. Autocorrect is not like him. I’ve typed this. There’s a lot

Of us, is they insist you have it wrong. They’re like telling you you’re like, it’s Juan. No, it’s not Juan. It’s not. It’s Joe on autocorrect. Shut up. And it’s not ducking either. Um I think this is really big. I’ve talked about this a lot. I think the Deebo injury. Let’s let’s

Just say hypothetically, he doesn’t play and hopefully he does massive. Here are the numbers Jason referred to this this is this is facts with Deebo in the lineup under Shanahan 53 and 23. That’s 30 games over 500 without Deebo eight and nine. That is really including guys.

This is from a couple of years ago this year. He leaves during that losing streak they had and Purdy for maybe one reason or another. But certainly Deebo was not was thrown picks like like nowhere. This is when the whole bot purdy thing we used to talk about really died. You see the

Difference when he’s not out there. It’s totally different. I’ll give you a hot take outside of Brock Purdy. Deebo is the most indispensable player on the whole team. And I’ll back that up if you were to ask Shanahan with some truth serum, who do you want to have out there

Tomorrow? I think if McCaffrey is gone, you put in Eli Mitchell and you go to battle. He needs a backup running back. He can do his thing. The linebackers, Trent Williams, they all have so many great players. I think Deebo changes the whole offense and it’s really like it’s the

Defense is on. Its on its heels McCaffrey does a lot of things. He catches the ball. He runs up the middle. A lot of guys do it not as well as him, but a lot of guys. People don’t do what Deebo does and not Jauan Jennings, not anybody else in the league. It’s

Like a Percy Harvin used to be. It is so, so important. I think they’re a different offense. I think they’re a different team. Without him. I think it is one of the biggest will he or won’t he? Players in a playoff game this decade. This is a massive

Story. So when Ian and Tom and everybody is reporting on it and they say Deebo will not go, it’s huge. I think it dictates and alters a lot of the game. Same if he does go big deal. Not just your typical garden variety O star player has a

  1. he’s probably playing. the question is how impacted will he be. if he’s under 65%, that’s massive. i already get the feeling the lions are gonna pull it off, but if deebo’s severely impacted… look out.

  2. If Samuel isn't able to play then the Lions will get 0 credit if they win because it will all be because of their injured player. That will be all anyone talks about and that the Lions don't even deserve to be in the Superbowl. 🙄

  3. Use McCaffery as a wide reciver in the screen situations
Jordan Mason and Ellijah Mitchell can handle the backfield in those situations.
Use McCaffery outside as a wide reciver decoy it will open up the run lanes

  4. I'm curious GMFB…. how well prioritised are elite tight end talents…. Arguably the 3 best in the league (by whatever distance you'd like to separate them) are still playing – is that coincidence or is an elite tight end more cost effective than an elite wideout?
