  1. It’s crazy IMO that Pujols is 10th all time in hits. 4th in HRs. And yet I never any conversations as him being one of the GOATs. I remember how little fan fair there was the day he passed Arod. Is part of it indifference for passing a caught and confessed cheater?

  2. Clemente stopping at exactly 3,000 seems romantic until you consider why. Then it’s sad. Although I guess you have to appreciate the time he was here because most people don’t pick when they go.

  3. The Sox kept Boggs in the minors until he was 24 despite hitting .322 over two years in AAA. Probably cost him between 200-300 hits

  4. I always loved that Stan Musial has 1,815 home hits and 1,815 away hits.

Also that you can take away ALL of Hank Aaron’s home runs and he’d still be on this list.

  5. Easy to forget that Derek Jeter is no. 6 all time. More hits than Honus Wagner, Pujols, Mays, etc.

  6. Imagine how many hits Ichiro would have if he spent his entire career here. I grew up in Boggs/Gwynn, Ichiro is a unique legend.

  7. I’ve decided to bring in a few ringers, professional baseballers. We’ll give them token jobs at the plant and have them play on our softball team. Honus Wagner, Cap Anson, Mordecai “Three-Finger” Brown…

  8. This fact has been beat to death, but I still can’t get over that Ichiro was 27 when he entered the league. It’s hard to imagine he wouldn’t have been in the 4,000-hit club (possibly even catching Rose) if you gave him 4-5 more of his prime years of around 200 hits per season.

  9. I don’t have enough experience to have seen a lot of these greats play in person. As an SD/Gwynn fan, why wasn’t a dude as incredible as Tony able to make it to the top 10 in hits? He had a long career and had an amazing eye the entire time.

  10. MLB needs to dedicate a week to Willie Mays while he’s still around. Too many times we wait until after death to bring out the parade. Let him see how much he’s appreciated while he’s still here.

  11. Gonna be a long time before anybody else joins that list. Joey Votto is the leader amongst current players. He has 2,135 hits. Francisco Lindor is the player with the most hits who is both under 30 and has played fewer than ten seasons. He has 1,323.

  12. * **Ichiro, Pujols** & Cabrera are locks to make the HOF which would make it 30-of-33 in the HOF.
    * **Biggio** was the only one of the 27 in the HOF already to not make it the first time. He made it on the 4th attempt.
    * **Rose (Banned)**, **Palmeiro (Steroids)** & **Rodriguez (Steroids)** are the only ones not in the HOF. Palmeiro fell off after Y4. A-Rod just had 34.8% in Y3.
