Twins Claim Bubba Thompson Off Waivers From Yankees

Could have a future as 4th outfielder, all defense & speed.
Fastest avg sprint speed will make him fun for St Paul if nothing else.

I’m too depressed to even make a joke about this one.
Minor league depth who might see some action as a pinch runner/defensive replacement down the stretch. Can’t be mad at that, especially if Willi is going to be more of a foundational player this year and likely will be less available to play that role and MAT likely won’t be in the picture.
I would consider myself a “fan” of this addition. Former 1st round pick, under control until 2030, #48 prospect in baseball in 2019.
Unless the bat wakes up a bit I hope that his use on the big league club is similar to how we used Andrew Stevenson last season and Billy Hamilton the year before, come up in September/playoffs and pinch run. If he is more of a MAT replacement, we are not looking good.
