  1. Jesus Christ. I know he’s worked hard to come back but even if this had nothing to do with the concussions, I’m just not sure he should play this year. The vibes are horrendous

  2. Fuck. If it’s concussion related (and i’m assuming it is), at this point I don’t think he should come back this season. Your future is more important than helping this trainwreck of a team atm

  3. Hate to think this way but if it wasn’t from a collision at what point does he start think retirement for his health first?

  4. It’s over.

LTIR. Call it a career and live your best life, Fil. You’ve been a good one.

  5. You have got to be fucking kidding me. I hope he’s okay.

LTIR this guy immediately and make a move.

  6. Fuck man. Really liked chytil since we drafted him.

Really hope he calls it off this year and just recover.

  7. Not going to jump to conclusions until we hear more about what happened. That said, this is not looking very good for Fil or the Rangers at least in the short term. At least this gives the management a clear path as to what we need to address before the trade deadline.

It is tough because Fil will be tough to replace and we are not one or two players away from having a championship lineup.

  8. I think he’s cooked. I seriously doubt he will ever play another game. He cannot continue to put his health at risk. It’s a damn shame…

  9. I hope he just got hit with an errant puck since he’s still in a non-contact jersey and it’s not concussion related, but no one really seems to know yet. Wishing the best for him.

Just to clarify for the people commenting about it though, Chytil is already on LTIR. We can only commit to taking on equivalent salary if we’re sure he’ll be out until the playoffs. Unfortunately that does seem more likely now though 🙁

A healthy and ready Chytil is still the best addition we can reasonably make to our lineup, everyone should be hoping he can come back as soon as it’s safe for him to do so.

Seems like it was leg related, which honestly could be a good thing? It’s strictly better than a non-contact concussion flare up I guess.

  10. Says he was down on ice in pain 5-7 minutes and only two others on iceal at time. Doesn’t sound like it’s his head.

  11. Why does everyone think it’s a concussion? Did they ever announce the injury details? The tweet says he was down “in pain”… that sounds like a different kind of injury. And re-watching the moment that he was supposed to have gotten injured, it kind of looks like maybe some kind of a leg/knee injury could be likely. Maybe one of those tricky ones like MCL/ACL tears type of issue.

edit: the video i linked got removed somehow? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRT3989oFyA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRT3989oFyA) (ugh. reddit’s new redesign causes the link to go all lowercase, screwing up URLs where case matters. you’ll have to copy paste that URL)

  12. Heartbreaking. Poor guy looked so good the last two years and has just been beaten down by injuries

  13. Option A: This is concussion related and his career may well be over

Option B: The poor bastard is basically cursed and sustains a non-contact injury 2 practices in after his concussion issues.

Honestly…..it’s just fucked either way and I feel horrible for him. We’re bad enough at draft picks but when one literally dies (Chereponav) and your best draft pick at center in decades has his wheels fall off at 23, you question what burial ground MSG was built on at this point.

I’m just happy the guy got his extension last year so he should have generational money coming his way and hopefully a job within the organization doing some sort of scout work in Europe

  14. Sounds like a noncontact, ACL, MCL, or meniscus tear. Probably caught an edge or hit a rut.

    Fucking sucks man

  15. This is so sad. Dude dedicated his life to hockey and attained his dream. So young and he really does need to leave the game, at least for an extended amount of time.

  16. He can’t catch a break. That said let’s chill with the “career over” stuff. If this is a leg/knee, which by all accounts it is, it might not even be that serious. Remember when we thought Kakko’s leg fell off? Most important thing is that it’s not his head.

  17. It’s not just concussions.  He’s been very injury prone in general.  This just seems to coincidental.

At this point I don’t know what to believe, but aside from his injuries.  Maybe he just doesnt want to play anymore.

  18. He was being rushed. Sidney had a similar problem missing 60 games one year and 20 of the next year. He wasn’t rushed. Filip should not even try at all this year and see where he is next year.
