As a Columbus transplant living in Seattle this is the only game I get to attend this year. Please jackets don’t completely embarrass me. That’s all I ask.
Vincent has talked about holding players accountable, but somehow he never holds the right ones accountable…
Overtime losses are going to kill us this year
Imagine if this team could close out games. By my count 14 times have we given up the game tying goal that led to a OT loss or a game winning goal in the 3rd period. 14 fucking times. You win half those games and you’ve got like 10-12 additional points and we are only 4-6 points out of 3rd place with 2 games in hand. This is the worst our division has ever been (the Atlantic division is gonna send 5 teams to the playoffs) and we are not taking advantage because of consistently awful no good very bad 3rd periods. We are close, we just have the wrong guy behind the bench.
I just wish we tried to play aggressively in the third just once. Put some defensive pressure on them and force them to make quick decisions in the offensive zone. Forecheck hard and punish their defensemen trying to break out the puck. It’s the most plainly obvious adjustment imaginable and we won’t make it. We just won’t.
I know I’m in a major minority, but the second period we saw last night gives me a lot of hope for the future.
There is a lot of stuff that isn’t working for the team right now, obviously, but there is something that’s starting to click. We haven’t seen play like that second period much this year. It feels like a step in the right direction.
I’m holding out hope that whatever clicked in the second last night will click again tonight and maybe last a bit longer.
I just refuse to be negative. I love this team. Even when they suck.
