Patriots Rumors: Mac Jones ‘Freelanced’ Away From Bill O’Brien’s Offense

  1. Ugh. Enough with Mac. He’ll probably be here next yr competing for a spot. Won’t be here after that. Let’s just get an OC first and a staff members in place. Harrison or Maye at 3…let’s go!

  2. Sounds like a damned if you do, damned if you don’t situation.

Edit: Line can’t block, RBs aren’t effective, WRs can’t get separation. It’s always gonna start and end with the QB but how is anybody supposed to be effective and win games in that situation.

  3. Earlier today: people hate Mac because he’s always happy and not holding people accountable

    Now:

    > “As the season went on, Jones was so bothered by the mistakes around him that O’Brien attempted to help the quarterback,” Daniels wrote. “Sources said that O’Brien’s message to Jones was simple — take solace in the fact that you made the right read and right throw even if the receiver doesn’t run the proper route or catch the pass.”

  4. I’m not gonna defend him, but I’m going to implore people to read the details before they come for his head

  5. This Mac jones media circus is just so fuckin annoying. Ten different things a day. All contradictory. I’m sure it’s both sides’ camp trying to get ahead of the situation, but it’s just a terrible look for everyone involved. For the franchises sake please trade him so he can get a fresh start. No need to prolong or exacerbate the drama

  6. Mac Jones’s people working hard today to make sure people know that everyone but Mac is responsible for his decline.

  7. After reading this article, if you think Mac Jones was broken, just wait until you see what we do to the rookie we draft. (If we draft one)

We literally have no tight ends on the roster, a horrific Oline, no left tackle, a terrible WR unit, and 1 running back. We aren’t able to run the ball because the line is so bad, which has all but removed our ability to run the play-action…it’s just a recipe for disaster. All while the QB scrambles for their life every drop back, with a 2 second throwing window, trying to toss it up to receivers that can’t get any separation.

How could you possibly think putting a rookie in that situation will do anything positive. No one can perform in that role with this roster.

It’s why I can’t help but come around to the idea that we should trade back and get as much draft capital as possible because we have about 15 (big) holes on the roster that need filling and it’s going to make it difficult to convince free agents they should sign with us.

We would have to pay them so much more than they’re worth, or fill the roster up with guys that no other team in the league wants. There’s literally ZERO “draw” to come here. We have no QB, no OC, no GM, no direction, we don’t do any single thing well on O.

As a FA you ideally still want to sign with a decent team to get the opportunity to showcase yourself for another contract afterwards. I wouldn’t come here if the money were comparable. Especially in the division with the dolphins and Allen.

There’s just too many holes to fill in one or two years. We are still going to have a top 5 pick next year too…don’t worry.
