[Jeff Ellis] Manzardo makes it so he makes ESPN and MLB lists and not BA. This means he is eligible for draft pick compensation. This matters in terms of his chances to make the roster.

  1. So in summation, since Manzardo was on the MLB and ESPN top 100 lists, Guardians could get draft compensation if he starts opening day.

  2. It’ll be interesting to see what they do considering the logjam of mediocre prospects who are due a look.

  3. top 60 in one list, not even top 100 in another, (not sure what the exact ranking is for ESPN because I’m not paying ESPN $11). This is such an unserious process. I understand different people are going to evaluate each player differently but it’s just weird to tie actual tangible stuff like draft picks to something this arbitrary and subjective.

  4. The only thing left for him to do is rake in spring training to force their hand

The chance at a draft pick that might turn into something several years down the road is nice but they would rather delay free agency by a year on a guy they think will be good

  5. MLB is trying all this stuff to just avoid creating a salary floor and cap. If teams were able to offer super maxes to players like the NBA. You’d see them all up tomorrow. Lol
