  1. Maybe a beat writer will discover that Troy spilled mustard on his Pats gear. The people demand answers.

  2. I don’t blame him, if you are unsure that you could be gone at any time it makes sense to be wearing unbranded stuff.

  3. “I have literally no news to report. Here’s some information about Troy Brown’s shirt.”

  4. He gone.

I don’t think they’re going to repeat the mistake of BOB and not let the next OC pad out his staff.

Unless they decide on Fleury, would be surprised if they don’t name an OC this week before the senior bowl.

  5. My man. When they fired Bill, everyone else was fired, too. This isn’t a shocker in the slightest.

Hell, if anyone deserved to be fired, it was Brown.

  6. On God I’ll still never understand why we let this man coach WRs.

I love Troy but is anyone here old enough to have actually WATCHED him play?

He was a vibes guy more than anything else. He was a pretty terrible route runner. He had 3 good seasons and only after he got an OC that knew how to scheme guys open.

  7. if Brown is responsible for our WR play the last couple season, he needs to be gone and prosecuted.

  8. We need to let the new OC fill out their staff if we want to introduce a new scheme. It will be difficult enough teaching our players, it will suck even harder if they have to teach the coaches too. In addition, we don’t want any Mac shenanigans where someone does not believe in the new scheme and (rightly or wrongly) tries to subvert it by introducing concepts they’re more comfortable with, rather than what’s best for the team.

Also if we hire a hot name, or if whoever we hire does too good a job, they will leave us. And if that happens, we want guys internally who can continue the good work. We do NOT want to hire a new guy who brings in another staff and scheme and confuses our players, and we don’t want to promote a previous era holdout from within who snaps us back to a similar scheme to before.

  9. Good! With what the receivers have done the last two years I want no part of him with a new OC – it’s one thing to have talentless receiver’s but a different thing to have receivers running the wrong routes or taking plays off.

  10. Great player, terrible WR coach. He didn’t have much talent to work with, but that doesn’t excuse sloppy routes and receivers not being on the same page, which we’ve seen all through his tenure. I think (and hope) he’s going to be replaced as soon as a new OC is named.

  11. Loved Troy as a player, but you can’t defend the utterly dysfunctional play we got at WR. At some point the coach owns that. Guys like Parker, Bourne and even JuJu knew how to run routes before they got here.

  12. The whole offense has sucked for a few years from BB to OC to QB to OL to WR and their talent sucked so not sure what Troy could do really. A lot of hate on here but how can you look at any coach and say yeah they did amazing lol.

  13. I don’t know why people are so quick to blame Troy Brown for the woes of the Patriots WR group. Who exactly has Troy Brown had to develop? JuJu? It’s TBs fault that JuJu sucks at NFL football?

Is it Troy Browns fault that Devante Parker isn’t a very good WR and is injury prone and has stone hands and a bad attitude? Troy Brown did not sign those two clowns.

Troy Brown also did not draft Tyquan Thornton.

Troy Brown did not injure Kendrick Bourne (who was playing quite well before going down).

Troy Brown does not develop the playbook, nor does he call the plays.

Troy Brown did not make one single pass attempt to any WR this past season…but

Rookie Demario Douglas led the Patriots in receiving yards and was second on the team in receptions with 49. so if he is going to all of the blame for poor WR play, he should then get all of the credit for the one WR that looked like a viable NFL WR.

Let’s not just imagine that some other guy could have come in and done any better with the cast of characters that were out there impersonating NFL WRs last season. Give Troy some actual talent and then see if you feel the same way. He seemed to do fine unlocking Douglas.

  14. I wonder if Troy was nominated by Belichick or Mayo. Here’s what I found about how the coaching staffs were assembled:

Yesterday, the coaches for the game were announced. This is the second year the Senior Bowl will use the “Coach Up” format. Coordinators and coaches from non-playoff teams were nominated by their head coaches and general managers for the opportunity to coach the two teams in the game. At least one coach from the 18 qualifying teams were nominated.
