Brzustewicz: “I’ve said for the last couple of weeks that it would be really cool to be part of a trade”

There was buzz a couple months ago that the Canucks were having some difficulty in signing him. This seems to suggest that he asked to be sent elsewhere.

If so, this makes the trade a lot more palatable. Sell a guy who didn’t want to be here at their peak value

  1. I didn’t get the same vibes watching this interview.
If I had to guess, Allvin may have approached him about a possible trade, and Brzustewicz responded by saying “that’s fine, would be kinda cool to be part of a trade.”

    Who knows.

  2. After the trade, I decided to cling to the time Brzustewicz said he “isn’t really a video guy” in some interview when reflecting on Komisarek’s offer to go over video whenever Bruzstewicz wanted.

  3. I think Hughes kind of has his place spec wise, he’ll have a great look in Calgary, and hopefully a great career

When was this? It seems a bit too convenient to point this out the day after he’s been traded out of the organization. I don’t think the media would’ve left this alone if it were true.

Not only that, he’s a CHL prospect, so he would’ve had to re-enter the draft in 2025 to go anywhere else.

  5. Eh, Dhaliwal said he liked Vancouver. Dhaliwal also told him he would tell him to have fun in Calgary cause he would of never had a chance in the Canucks PP with Hughes here.

  6. I don’t think he wanted out, lol. Sounds like he was maybe joking with friends about what the experience would be like, but he seems like a good kid. Also seems like he’s 18-19. Cut him some slack. Wish him luck.

  7. I visited Calgary for a week and it was enough to realize there’s nothing to do there

  8. Yeah i found it quite strange that with the monster of a season he is having, why the canucks didn’t sign him yet, usually draft picks don’t have much negotiating power when it comes to their ELCs

  9. I didn’t’ really take it that way listening to the interview personally. For whatever reason I really like this kid and I wish him the best in CGY, hopefully the trade works out for both teams.
