  1. This isn’t backpedaling and is more concerning than the initial report, because presumably he now thought about his initial comments and is clarifying more responsibly.

“Caleb’s camp doesn’t want to be viewed as anti-Chicago” doesn’t mean he’s not anti-Chicago. And “Caleb‘s camp has concerns about Chicago” is also concerning. If that’s Cowherd backtracking then…oh boy.

9/10 this amounts to nothing. But there’s definitely smoke out there about Caleb’s camp (not Caleb) wanting to set him up for success. That smoke has dated back months. His dad is on record lighting the fire.

  2. If he’s not anti-Chicago, then his “concerns” don’t mean shit. He’s going to be a Bear.

  3. Nobody knows this guy even exists anymore. He just says this shit to try and climb back into relevancy

  4. https://x.com/theherd/status/1753475090568941628?s=46&t=unF-9oFydqZI2LHjKTbo_g

Cowherd still believes they don’t want Caleb there, I think Caleb would love to be the guy to resurrect the Bears. It doesn’t matter he’s 90% likely to go to Chicago first overall.

The funny thing to me is his claim that Washington is a better landing spot. What reason for that besides being his hometown lmao

Cowherd just hates the Bears and wants his USC boy in the DMV

  5. WAIT? You mean Colin Cowherd doesn’t have sources and just says shit?!??? No way! Lets see what Danny Parkins has to say next?

  6. He probably got a violently angry call from Williams’s dad and his team because this rumor gave the Bears an insane amount of leverage for a potential swap of the 2nd and 1st picks.

  7. This team isnt picking one. They are picking 9th. They have the panthers pick who would be picking one. The bears if they had competent qb play would be a playoff team. Idiotic to say hed had nothing around him to get off the bus throwing

  8. > He says Caleb Williams’ camp doesn’t want to be viewed as “anti-Chicago.”

    >Though he says there are “concerns” about Chicago.

So what are these “concerns”? Sounds like this blowhard doesn’t want to admit he was wrong and is now trying to use vague terms like “concerns” to save face

  9. This guy is a fucking clown and I bet the clown is secretly a packers fan that doesn’t want the bears to draft a qb that can take us to the promised land. Adds more fuel to the fire, bear fucking down

  10. This argument that the bears have never developed a star QB so they can’t do it now is laughable as if Ryan Poles and the coaches have been running the Bears the last 50 years. The Bears have just never drafted a star QB

  11. Why do people even watch these shows, ESPN, etc it’s all for ratings, ads, paying their salaries.

  12. He accomplished what he set out to do.. Get people to watch his show today from a major market

  13. “Dont want to be viewed” which means they dont want to come to Chicago but also dont want to look like whiners…does that sound about right?

  14. There’s a big difference between not WANTING to go somewhere and saying you WON’T go there.

I don’t believe Caleb wants to come to Chicago, but I also believe that he will go wherever he is drafted and put on a happy face.

His image is just as important as his play.

The days of rookies saying “I’m not going to go play at so and so team” are over. Eli and Elway didn’t have to deal with the brutality of social media.

If a loss in college will cause Caleb to cry, the social media backlash from saying he won’t go to a certain team would have curled up on the floor of the shower.

  15. Lol my wife saw his Taylor Swift comments and was like, see this guy gets it. I immediately showed her that this is usually how he is.

  16. Can we all agree it’s totally fair for any highly touted QB prospect to want to sit down with the team who might draft them and hear what their plan is for success? That’s pretty reasonable and I fully expect Poles, Fluis, Warren to be able to lay out a vision of how they would use Caleb and everyone walks away happy in March excited to work with each other.

Can we also agree Colin using those vague “concerns” to say what he said yesterday makes him an asshat?

  17. I get the cowherd hate but he does have some connects. I think he was a little overzealous in his reporting but it’s clear Williams has some issues with the bears. I think they prefer to keep that private for now assuming the bears are receptive to those concerns

  18. Imagine putting stock into Colin Cowherd rumors

When there’s a unanimous QB at 1 like CW you hear this stuff Every. Single. Year. This is an absolutely nothing ‘throw it at the wall and see if we get clicks’ rumor. The media eats stuff like this up and doesnt think twice.

  19. Caleb can be even just an average QB and he would get a statue made. Just like being on the team to end the cubs drought. The legacy of (potentially) being the greatest qb in bears franchise history would make him an icon.

Can’t wait to see the video of him, Wemby, and Bedard hanging out next season

  20. Mods this is a comment based on a speculation about the #1 pick. Can this be moved to the sticky daily thread please?

  21. Feels like there needs to be tiers to what’s considered sports journalism, and Cowherd deserves to be on the bottom rung.
