Safety Free Agent Market

From Pro Football Network. Seems like we might be in a good spot for the future of the defense!

  1. I think this was kinda always the plan, even going back to last year. There wasn’t a lot available then, and we had very little cap to work with.

The 2023 draft was also weak at safety, while the draft this year has a pretty good safety class.

I hope we sign a FA vet and draft a rookie day 2

  2. The defined safety roles in Hafley’s defense make the position interesting to watch, because who we sign in free agency will dictate which type of safety we need to draft. Dugger, Curl, and Blackmon profile as SSs, while McKinney, Stone, Whitehead, and Fuller fit more as FSs. Winfield can do both, but I doubt we get a chance at him.

  3. Man I’ll just eat my downvotes here…

I really want CJGJ. Mainly because I think he and Jaire will get along well and get into offenses heads.

  4. Winfield would be a dream but honestly I’d be stoked to have Dugger, stone or Mckinney plus likely one of Nubin or Kinchens at pick 41.

  5. I really hope we draft a WR round one just because it would be the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.

  6. What’s the likelihood most of these guys re-sign with current teams? Do we have insight onto who is definitely going to be available?

  7. Having so many viable options hit the market at the same time at a devalued position might really drive down the price for everyone after the first big name signs also

  8. 1,3,5,10 would b so dope paired with Ford. As a arkansas fan plz plz plllllz GET KURL ill buy 4 jerseys immediately!!

  9. Look for them to target Dugger, Hafley’s defensives have often employed a “vandal” Saftety/Linebacker tweener as their 5th DB. Dugger is 6’2 220 and runs a 4.5 40

  10. I know it’s not happening, but it would be so hilarious to stick it to the Vikings with Antoine Winfield’s son.

They had the 22nd and 31st picks that year – and while Jettas was obviously a slam dunk and they were right to prioritize CB, the fact that they took Metullus in the 6th round shows they were still thinking of depth at Safety. RIP Jeff Gladney who they took at 31, but he was cut after the season.

Also funny coincidence that Jr wears #31

  11. Winfield is going to be expensive. I’d be happy with McKinney or kurl as long as they’re not top of the market deals. Something similar (market adjusted) to what Amos was given. Then draft one early. Hopefully Dejean but by everything I’m reading, it’d be a pipe dream if he was still available.

  12. Guy’s like Gardner Johnson brings that attitude that a defense needs im just saying!!

  13. Blackmon or Curl would be my personal choices to pair with savage and an early round pick is my ideal offseason solution

  14. My first mock draft I traded down and drafted all the safeties. I still think that might be the way to go.

  15. I think McKinney is a good choice to be the single high safety if Hafley is going to play that scheme. McKinney’s PFF grade in 2021 playing 1134 snaps as a single high free safety. Just keep him away from the box because he cratered under Martindale playing in the box and slot. Safeties don’t command much money compared to edge and corners. So that’d be my target.
