[Brad Spielberger] What I’ve heard: – By no means has Caleb definitively said he doesn’t want to go to Chicago – Waldron is a good hire, and he works with the QB Collective where Caleb is now training – Caleb & Co. do trust Kliff – Chicago would probably be able to get ~ 2, 40, 2025 1st for 1

  1. It would suck to give up that much to move up one spot, but I do think Caleb is significantly better than Daniels or Maye. If he turns into Mahomes, then the price will be well worth it.

  2. If he’s the guy, it’s worth it. I don’t know if he’s the guy. But I’d go for it if the leadership thinks he’s as good as the draft analysts do

  3. I’m not thrilled if it’s a 2025 first. would much prefer offering a 3rd and Payne/Allen instead of the first. 2, 40, 2025 third and Payne should be ample

  4. Man fuck this shit. Just stay out and take maye damn. How the hell we gonna improve the D if we’re giving up that many picks to move up 1 spot. Fuck I wanted to trade down and roll with Howell with a competent play caller. How any fan thinks anything is gonna change with anyone else at QB with that line is nuts.

  5. I don’t get why Washington is making this a hard decision. Don’t buy into Caleb and take the second coming of Justin Herbert in Drake Maye. Don’t mortgage the future for Caleb. There are a lot of holes with this club and even with the cap space they have, you want to ensure that you’ve got money for players who will need extensions and if you’re going free agent shopping, you want to sign his who will complement the core you’re building.

  6. No guts, no glory. Trade it all for Caleb. The other prospects are mid at best. Fedex will have majority Commanders fans and not away team fans this season if we pick him. We need hope.

  7. Caleb’s “camp” has said he will play for Chicago and that he likes their defense, WR1, O-Line and other things. Not to mention, the most reliable insider (Rapoport) said he will be happy to play for whatever team selects him. This reminds me of how Caleb’s father argued with Caleb that he should stay at OU instead of transferring to USC when his coach left. However, Caleb stood his ground and did what he wanted. My guess is that any doubt about Chicago comes from his dad but Caleb has shown he will do what he wants. Hiring a mediocre coordinator like Kingsbury for what is most likely a pipe dream seems like bad management (if that is what they are doing). Although to be fair, this late in the hiring process what are their options really?

  8. Historically #1 overall QBs pan out at a 75% rate. 2-5th pick QBs pan out at a 45% rate. 1st round QBs outside the top 5 pan out at a 40% rate. Obviously each player and each situation is unique, but there’s a compelling argument for trading up for a clear top QB in a class. A 75% shot is better than two 45% shots.

  9. I wouldn’t do the trade and I wouldn’t draft either of the other qbs (maye and daniels) at 2 tbh. I’d look at O-line or trade down then O-line.

  10. Only this fanbase could complain about the notion of drafting Caleb Williams. It’s probably not even going to happen but if it does how can you not get excited?

  11. Highly doubt they would give up next year’s 1 (which will be a very high pick) to move up from 1 to 2.

  12. Do it, so we can watch yet another QB bust, while Slingin’ Sammy Howell wins 3 super bowls and steals Travis Kelce’s girl, T Swift. The best and most realistic timeline.

  13. QB prospects are so unpredictable and there are too many holes to fill on this team you trade away all that for Caleb Williams

  14. That’s just a stupid move to trade up! You’re mortgaging the next 3 years on a unproven player. I just don’t see how that benefits a rebuild. There is not enough talent on this roster to afford that move IMO

  15. It’s going to take 3 #1s, a 2nd and a 25 year old pro bowl player for this pick. No way we trade Caleb for less than we traded Bryce Young. Speilberger is dreaming if he thinks that Poles would take this deal.

  16. Fuck no I’m not trading up for Caleb. He’s a bum only good against bad teams. If I wanted dak or tua I’m sure they’d give us them for the second

  17. We take this trade in a heartbeat!!

We would still have a 2nd round pick if we trade 36 or 40.

  18. It shouldn’t cost next years 1st to move up 1 spot but you gotta be good at negotiating. Chicago is gonna bluff but if they really want MHJ, they aren’t trading out of top 3.

  19. I’m just glad half you idiots don’t have any power to make trades for this team. Have trust in Peters.
