We used the picks well in hindsight but no it wasn’t a good decision at the time
And Cliff Pu ended up being a mentor to Necas in the AHL
Only real loser in that trade so far is Skinner. He’s looking at becoming the first player in NHL history to play 1000 regular season games without a playoff appearance, and the Canes have made the post-season every season since he was traded. It’ll happen sometime next season (probably December) unless the Sabers turn it around or he’s traded, but with a NMC and 9 mil for 3 more seasons that’s not likely.
@ 932 games Skinner holds the record for most games played without a playoff game. Ooof that hurts.
I really, really want to see Nikishin in the Nhl.
This trade also got Charlotte a Calder cup. Pu was traded for whoever it was that scored the most points in that Calder cup run.
