No. Wemby isn’t even 5th on most DPOY favorites lists, he’s been on a big minutes restriction and is on the 3rd worst team in the league. Even if Rudy wasn’t running away with it, there’d be 3-4 guys including Chet who’d get it first. He’s going to be insanely good and probably win several DPOYs but let’s let him play more than 30mpg before we start putting him in these convos lol
I mean he has a case for it but to go back to previous years , Myles Turner was leading the league in blocks and was at one point have more blocks than an entire team but he didnt win DPOY . Its more than stats , it also effectiveness on defense , Opponent fg% while inside the game and overall team position in defense . A player could lead the league in blocks and shot contest and still not win the DPOY
