Justin Fields is not the solution

And neither is Kenny

  1. I get the sentiment about Fields, but having watched him this last year (particularly close near the end of the season), he has “every took” you need in a franchise QB, and would be lethal in the Arthur Smith system (play action pass/running game).

Fields gives the team an “identity”, and has plenty of arm to keep defense honest. He’d be a nightmare for opposing defenses with Pickens, DJ, Muth, the Harris/Warren combo, and an improving O-line.

With that said, I believe people (pro-Fields crowd) are infatuated with his “potential and tools” (he’s younger than Pickett), and adds an element that this team needs – speed!

  2. Yeah it’s pretty obvious. I get he flashes a lot and his ability to make plays with his legs is really dynamic, but the way I see it, if a guy’s been playing for 2-3 years and you’re still going back and forth on whether or not he’s “the guy”, he’s probably not “the guy”. How many games did it take to figure out Mahomes was legit? Like 2 or 3. What about Burrow? You knew he was legit a couple weeks into his second year. Lamar? Won the MVP his first full season as a starter. Big Ben? Numbers weren’t amazing his rookie season but he went 13-0 and took us to the conference championship. You can pretty much do this mental exercise with just about every great QB in recent memory and you come to the same answer. The only exception that comes to mind is Eli, whose TD-INT ratio was horrific his first 4 seasons, but he won the Super Bowl in Year 4, which secured his spot as the franchise QB of the Giants. So yeah, the way I feel about Kenny is the same way I feel about Fields. Fields definitely has a higher ceiling, but the chances he turns out to be a franchise QB are looking pretty slim right now. Wouldn’t give up more than a 3rd or 4th round pick for him.

  3. It’s all perspective. If we traded for him tomorrow people would be pissed for a day or two and then we would all buy in lol when someones ours, they’re ours.

  4. Meh I hate stats like this when you have a QB like Mayfield in there who would clearly be a great guy for us. I think Fields would be a solid guy for us, I don’t think he’d win us a Super Bowl necessarily or have any top 5 stat years but I think he’d be more than serviceable until we figure out the future of the position

  5. Justin Fields is younger than Kenny and is a better athlete. Also, his ceiling is higher. I am not saying he is the answer, but if the money/deal is right it would be stupid to not see what he can do.

  6. I would be astonished if Kenny is our guy.  Too many red flags and he just instinctively spins into defenders.  This is a trait that I don’t think he’ll shake but I don’t know shit about notin

  7. so let’s look at one stat and say that settles it? There isn’t a GM in the NFL that would take Pickett over Fields if the $ wasn’t a factor. The Steelers would be MUCH better off with Fields compared to Pickett.

  8. How is the title not about the QB whos actually on the team and worse with way less physical tools and potential lol

  9. Fields would be a good addition at rb. Not a qb and not for a trade of our already shitty draft selections coming up.

  10. I don’t want to trade draft pick for another question mark at QB with less time left on his rookie contract when we have a bunch of other holes that needs to be adressed.

  11. Heinicke was brought in by Arthur Smith to the falcons as a back up lol, won’t be surprised if he comes in to the Steelers as a back up to Pickett

  12. Thank you for saying so. That dude isn’t going to take down Mahomes Burrow or Allen.
