The reports are that Mark Davis didn’t want to give him a 3rd year on the contract because of all the other coaches he’s paying. But idk, that just doesn’t sound right. I’m sure AP was given a 3 year contract and it would make sense for the Raiders to have given other recent hires 3 year contracts too

I really don’t think it’s complicated and really has nothing to do with the Raiders.
Ben Johnson was the assumed pick for the commanders. Kliff probably liked the potential for having the #2 pick but not while reporting to an offense coach. Johnson backed out super last minute, Commies hired a lame duck defensive coach, Kliff can now run his offense with the #2 pick.
