1 point out of a possible 4 so far doesn’t feel great, and Canes and Cats are both very strong. In the grand scheme of things we’re fine, but as far as this road trip goes it would have been nice to have a stronger start, especially since in both games we were very close to a better result.
I don’t think Annunen looked too shabby tbh. Yeah, he should have had that 4th goal but the others I’d say were more on a lucky bounce and some serious defensive breakdowns.
And speaking of defensive breakdowns, they seriously need to tighten it up. Why was there a breakaway when we had 3 dmen on the ice? Luckily Juice stopped it but it’s just an example of the opportunities they keep giving their opponents that doesn’t seem to happen the other way around, at least not near as frequently. Turnovers and poor passing was another big issue last night, and it’s silly mistakes like that that they really need to crack down on if they want a deep playoff run.
Anyway I know I’m starting to sound like a doomer, so I’ll just say that these are very fixable problems and I do believe they have the work ethic and talent to make it happen. Go Avs!
Tbh, I was expexting this out of the all star break. Both the Rangers and Devils needed wins more than we did. At home against thr Avs is a hugr wqy to catapult a back half of season.
Also, we ran into 2 goalies who were stopping some crazy shots. The Avs will find their groove in the next few games again.
