I mean it’s kind of chicken and egg, Beane/McDermott/Babich, + White/Hyde/Poyer have also been there for those 6 years
That must have gotten ugly between him and McDermott. McDermott has always been great with the secondary throughout his career, so I am sure he had a strong influence on those results. And Bobby Babich was the secondary coach when power and Hyde took off.
Edit: hopefully Jon butler lands on his feet! I am sure he will get a good gig somewhere.

McDermott is one of the best secondary coaches in the league I don’t worry about secondary coaching
It sucks to see him go, I have a lot of respect for him for making one of the best secondaries in the world out of mostly Day 3 picks.
I don’t blame McD for going with Babich though, not only is he younger, but the public backlash against him if we had let him get hired away would be deafening for someone who is already vilified by half the fanbase.
This was a no win situation for John Butler. There’s nothing anybody could really have done differently.

This feels like a fake account to me. No coach is gonna go out on social media and have a meltdown like this even if the firing wasn’t as mutual as reported.
