[Wojnarowski/Sidery] The Mavericks and Hornets are in active trade discussions centered around PJ Washington. Dallas’ top target was Kyle Kuzma, but they’re now pivoting to Washington.

  1. Hopefully we won’t overpay for him. He has some characteristics that we need, but I don’t value him that much

  2. So many PJ posts lately, I’ll reiterate what I’ve said elsewhere, where’s the value in this dude? Especially trading Green for him? He doesn’t shoot 3s at a good enough clip to be respected, he’s not a great rebounder for the position, his defensive metrics are bad this year & we’re at the half point now. Sure he was good last year, but that’s not the guy we’re getting so something has obviously changed which should net us a great rebate. On paper he’s just considerably worse than Green, older, stagnant development wise, and played more than twice the minutes of green so far. Are we betting on the mythical “he’ll do better here because of Luka” again? Which if we’re being frank has been proven time & time again to not really be a thing.

EDIT: And as some people have mentioned, he ain’t even a starter in Charlotte which is not a great team.

  3. It’s gotta be green OR the first, not both

Charlotte is crazy for both but one or the other is fair value imo

And also I’m gonna put this out there, I think the package will be Jaden Hardy grant Williams and a second

I think Charlotte will see grant as a marginal downgrade on a cheaper deal who they can revitalize, Hardy as an exciting young prospect and the second as sweetener on top

  4. Wouldn’t be surprised if this is just Woj propoganda to get Washington to lower their price for Kuzma

  5. The argument for this guy is that he’s going to get much, much higher quality looks in Dallas than he could ever dream of in Charlotte. I would expect his three point percentage to rise.

  6. There is just no way you give up Green in a deal for him. I’ve resigned myself to losing the FRP, but give up any other player besides Green (goes without saying no Luka, Kyrie, and Lively)

  7. I’d stay put for this trade deadline. Don’t want to give up Green or Hardy. I’d prefer signing someone who’s available on waivers.

  8. Another player that will score 0 points every night unless Luka spoon feeds him his points. Let’s try this the 6th time and see if anything different will happen.
