  1. Not a super intelligent article. He had a pretty down year last season so they’d be selling low right now. It’s a safe expectation that he’ll bounce back at least a little bit in the weakest division in baseball and a team will sell their soul to trade for him near the deadline. There’s also the business aspect. Cease and Robert are essentially the only marketable players on the MLB roster and Cease is arguably the only decent starting pitcher they have. If they trade him now, they are 100% conceding and ticket sales are significantly affected. They’re still gonna lose 100 games but at least wirh Cease they can sell a few tickets in the spring and early summer. They aren’t going to extend him right now for the same reason that teams won’t meet the current asking price. He had a down season so see if he bounces back and wait and see what you have in some of the prospects. Regardless he’s likely outside of the Sox price range either way; they are one of two franchises that have never given a $100m+ contract and even a middling performance gets him there. It’s not a question of if the Sox will trade him, it’s when, and the time is not now.

  2. they are asking way too much. they have so many holes that could be addressed if they traded Cease. idiotic front office

  3. I can’t believe how bad the White Sox fumbled their window. The LaRussa hire doomed a very talented team.
