Mavs fan here. Haven’t seen someone clamp down on Luka like that since prime Ben Simmons. Don’t let the 34 points make you think otherwise.
claxton has surely got to be one of the most underrated players in the league. if he was on another team with a bit more attention he wouldn’t be under the radar as much as he is. for instance, mobley getting all defence over him last year was (imo) a joke. mobley’s a top player and he’s gonna clearly have a better career than claxton but there isn’t a universe he was a more effective defender last year. it’s all narrative
Dinwiddie trying to double Luka last game and giving up his man for open 3s was such a final straw. Trust is important on defense and Clax did a great job locking him up but you can only do so much.
