Why did Bird have to shovel that driveway 😭😭😭

I’m not even a Celtics fan but a fan of greatness

  1. Because his game would have aged too well. He would have been viable through probably 1997. David Stern sent sleeper agents to whisper in his ear that only horrible people hire out for work required to help their own mother.

  2. Top 3 in MVP voting for 8 years in a row after finishing 4th as a rookie is insane

Edit: Maybe 9 straight All-NBA 1st team to start your career is a more succinct way to phrase it.

  3. My dad will mention that damn driveway every single time the Celtics are brought up lmao

  4. The bone spurs really killed his career, came back heavy and never moved anywhere close to the same

  5. He also broke a finger in high school on his shooting hand and said he never had the same touch with his shot again.

  6. It’s crazy that back in those days averaging 19 ppg would win you MVP πŸ˜‚ Nowadays you gotta be dropping close to 30 if not 30 a game.

  7. More like why did Len Bias have to do that line of snow? Bird could have been a spot up shooter.

  8. Not just the back injury.

Bias and Lewis deaths would’ve extended his career by reducing minutes.

  9. The back injuries wore on him. But the big dropoff was him missing the 89 season with major surgery to remove heel spurs. He originally hurt his back in the ’85 off season, after which he had his best season in 1986. After he had the heel spur surgery he never recovered his mobility and his back progressively got worse. But he had 3 really good seasons after his back injury.
