  1. I don’t think there’s been a single one of these posts where I haven’t said “woah, really?”

  2. I remember Puig on the Reds because of that time he tried to fight the entire Pirates roster as he was being traded to Cleveland

  3. Matt Harvey was pretty solid for us. Pretty typical buy low move for the Reds that works out from time to time.

  4. Dante Bichette in the vest and Yasiel Puig licking the bat is a perfect representation of what I enjoy about this series.

    Well done, OP.

  5. So I had no idea Paul Konerko wasn’t a White Sox draft pick. Spoiler he also played for the Dodgers! This also led me to learning Mike Cameron was traded by the White Sox to the Reds for Konerko.

  6. Sorry, but Puig is forever a Reds legend for making the 2019 season one of the most memorable. Dude fought against the Pirates when he wasn’t on the team anymore. Most fun losing season in history.

  7. Amos Rusie was traded to the Cincinnati Reds for Christy Mathewson. The trade is one of the most lopsided in baseball history; Rusie pitched poorly in three games before retiring, while Mathewson won 371 games for the Giants and was part of the inaugural class inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936.

On July 20, 1916, Mathewson’s career came full circle when he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds along with Edd Roush. He was immediately named as the Reds’ player-manager. However, for all intents and purposes, his playing career was over. He appeared in only one game as a pitcher for the Reds, on September 4, 1916.

  8. Legit thought Doolittle was on this team way more than just the 2021 season, didnt realize how late into his career he was when he signed with the Reds

  9. Mordecai “Three Finger” Brown made 39 appearances for the 1913 Reds. He went 11-12, 2.91 ERA, 113 ERA+, 173 innings.

  10. OP can you do the White Sox next? I feel like signing formerly great players is Reinsdorf’s thing
