[Pavlovic] The Giants are no longer going with the two-way path for Reggie Crawford. He’s in camp as a pitcher and that’ll be the focus going forward. Giants are hopeful he can move quickly.

  1. Makes sense. Hopefully he can have a full pitching schedule this year. Respect him for trying, but yeah it was getting unrealistic.

  2. Probably for the best, doesn’t hurt to have given it a shot to see which route we wanted him to go

  3. Makes sense. Ohtani is a unicorn, though it’s fun to speculate that he’s paved the way for two-way players to become feasible (if rare).

Focus on Crawford’s pitching, and there’s always a slim chance they could dust off his bat if he becomes more established on the mound

  4. Dang I thought he had a legit chance to be a two way player. It’s probably a smart call but as a fan I’m bummed.

  5. I hope Bryce Eldridge at least has a shot as a TWP. The mystique around a pitcher who can rake is exciting.

  6. I always thought the idea that Ohtani would lead to teams giving more chances for players to become 2 way players was not really true.

Players get the chance, they just generally are very obviously much weaker in one area than the other.
