  1. We had struggles even before the injuries, but they’ve made our play-in odds quite distant. Granted we still got a third of the season post-ASB, so a healthy run is still possible. But at this point I’m fine just looking towards youth development.

Speaking of, Amen is a DAWG. Can playmake and make great passes, is a defensive hound, awesome on the glass, and even with a bad shot is not afraid to attack (his middie is low-volume but not bad though). Cam is a bucket and Amen does everything else, and seeing them get rotation and even starter minutes under Ime will be nice for their futures.

We know Sengun is All-Star caliber and Jabari and Jalen show flashes and degrees of improvement even if they were rough tonight. Give the kids more time and we’ll be a force in a few years. Just gotta rough it through the nadir of this season.

  2. Stone really looked at this roster and thought… yip, this is fine, we will rely on internal development in the middle of the season?

  3. 2nd worst road record in the entire league, only behind the historically bad Detroit Pistons , folks. Wow.

  4. Positives – Amen Thompson

    Negatives – Yes

Edit: honorable mention to Nate Hinton, dude was carrying his weight!

  5. A shame, great games by Thompson, Hinton and Holiday got messed up with another failed comeback. Hopefully everyone comes back from the break focused and ready for playing both sides of the ball even if we aren’t at home.

  6. I am done with blaming players when we have been consistently terrible on the road. At some point the coaching staff should be held accountable for the shitty situation.

What are we doing out there? Saying he is better than Silas is such a low bar to pass. We are not seeing consistency or any kind of streak of good games. That falls on the coach. We take Jalen out and rightfully so. But then leave Dillon in to do whatever he wants. What is the message here? If you look like you are defending you can do whatever you want on offense?

We need a serious wake up call.

  7. I am usually quite patient but Udoka is really starting to become a disappointment. His and brooks’ poor offense really ruined this game and killed their chances. He lets brooks do too much, focuses too much on defense, and has been very poor on offense. When they had that broken play in the first half and udoka just stood there. Then finally called a timeout only after they dropped the defensive possession. I predicted the whole rest of the game. Udoka may have improved the defense, but the offense is running worse despite even this current roster still having more capable players than last season.

  8. This team needs an infusion of modern NBA offensive principles. I love Ime, but I’m not getting the impression he values that stuff.

    – Jabari constantly pump faking open catch and shoot 3’s to dribble into contested mid range 2’s

    – Amen, Tate, and Hinton trying to cut into the same space while somebody posts up. Those 3 guys shouldn’t even be on the floor together.

    – Sengun waiting for 8 seconds then driving into a paint with 5 grizzlies set up waiting for him

    – Jeff Green post ups, ever

These things should never happen. I know it’s what the individual players feel most comfortable doing, but that’s what coaching is for — teaching these guys what decisions they can and can’t make

  9. I’d love to know why “accountability” that’s been preached so much just doesn’t apply to Dillon Brooks at all. And it’s not like he’s been elite on defense for a while now.

  10. Post game write up, but I really mean it general.

We always hear stuff like “Defense fuels the offense”, intensity, physicality from the coach. Right, team was physical, they fought for rebounds/steals and we got 20 more shots. An exact 99 shot attempts tonight vs 79. And we still lost. You know why? Team has no offensive plan.
I love when coach and fans keep calling out players for low basketball IQ. Hey, check it out man, coach also has low basketball IQ when it comes to offense.

Offense is stagnant, no cuts, certainly not enough ball movement even though you demand doubles around your best passer, Jabari always sitting on the 3pt line, horrible pick and rolls except FVV is out there, you can’t make an entry pass to your best scoring big in a decent position even if there is a mismatch. There is not even enough transition play even though we have some of the better athletes who can rebound, run and finish at a good level.

What is Houston’s offense? Hustle for 2nd chance points, settling for ugly threes and Sengun/Amen/Jalen forcing drives from the elbow/ top of the key. Not even talking about this game and Tate iso’s lol.

I honestly don’t think there is a cure for this, but a bandaid called FVV.

Hope the ASB will help the team get some rest, injuries heal and we have some decent games.

  11. we have no offense. simple as that. this team is built on defense and even that is crumbling with these injuries.

  12. Despite all the negativities, with the efforts of Amen and Alperen, the match was drawn, until Brooks entered the game, Brooks does not play basketball, he is just showing off, D.Green is also a showman but a perfect player, Brooks is a Draymond Green without talent.

  13. Udoka keeps Dillon playing atrocious, Jabari playing horrible but sits green out the whole second half. Fuck you Udoka. I’m sick of your trash lineup rotations. Defense isn’t going to win any games when you put a lineup that go ice cold on offense putting tate and amen on the floor together is blasphemy. You give tough love to certain players who don’t play well but don’t keep that same energy when other players play bad. This game is the tipping point. Udoka needs to reevaluate himself and someone needs to speak to him.

  14. This is a new low. Losing to the fucking Grizzlies that’s missing half their team. Our 2nd and 3rd overall pick can’t even go off against these G Leaguers. So pathetic.
