  1. Since January 1st, we’ve had a record of 11-5-0 (0.688), which would put us 4th in the Eastern Conference, 3rd in the Atlantic, and 6th in the entire league. From the start of the season until Dec 10th, we’ve had a record of 13-11-5 (0.534), just to put it in perspective of how the season started out for us.

Not only does this team feel different than the first half of the season, but we’re also performing better.

  2. It’s good that our record has improved, but when you watch the play on the ice it doesn’t really pass the eye test a lot of the time. We’re still seeing a lot of the same mistakes that have been hounding us since last season: massive defensive lapses, brutal turnovers, and an inability to clear the zone. There are glimpses of the elite team we used to be, but rarely a full 60-minute effort. Even some of our wins against bottom-feeding teams were closer than they should’ve been.

  3. Vasy has been the main difference we needed. With Kuch, we were a borderline playoff team, but with Vasy back at elite level, we can be a team no one wants to play against.

  4. Really just highlights how much parity there is in the NHL this year. No one has been head and shoulders dominant and every team feels beatable if we can just make the playoffs. The most encouraging thing is Vasy hasn’t even really been that good to this point. Flashes of elite play here and there but has struggled a fair amount. If he rounds into form for the postseason, this team can 100% make a run
