[Park] Byron Buxton looks like the happiest man in the Twins’ clubhouse after reporting to camp. “The pain’s gone, so I’m a lot more happy, 100 percent, 100 percent. The last couple of years were definitely painful, just waking up, feeling like a knife is in your knee every morning.”

  1. Have we ever seen a full strength buxton? Full strength Buxton over 150+ games seems like an MVP candidate.

  2. Only played 100 games once in his career and now he’s 30. I hope he puts it together because he’s such an exciting player, but it seems like he’s selling out for power the last couple of years and has an obp under .300.

I feel like as fans we view player injuries as inconveniences rather than real people getting really hurt. These dudes are actually suffering during their time on the IL

  4. Memes abound, but from all the reporting in the clubhouse Buxton was doing 3+ hours of physical therapy to even get on the field at the level he was last year, he’s mentioned being frustrated at not being able to play with his sons because of pain or fear of tweaking something. It’s been a bad situation all around, all the more so because I don’t see many people questioning his desire to play either.

  5. The hopium is having a Correa and Buxton that can match what something like the Fangraphs projections predict.

If they meet that projection, the Twins add 3.5 WAR to the lineup, which is about the equivalent of adding Bryce Harper to the lineup.

  6. Healthy Buxton, Correa and Royce. This team is going to be a lot scarier than some people are thinking.

  7. Alright boys, what’s your prediction for going on the DL?

June 19th against Tampa is my guess.

  8. Happy for him as a human being, and as a baseball fan I’d love to see a healthy Buxton

  9. I’m thankful I wasn’t gifted with extreme baseball skill, because I know my body would totally break down as well, and it would hurt physically and emotionally.

I feel sorry for Buxton, I want him to have a healthy full season so badly.

  10. Good Lord, Byron Buxton just walked through the clubhouse walking perfectly normally.
He said he had “no time” to talk.
    Too busy being happy, evidently.

(Good for Buxton though, this is great)

  11. thats pretty much me after taking care of some recent health issues. Make sure you take care of yourself yall

  12. I am rooting for him. The public perception that he is “made of glass” may be true, but as someone who takes extremely good care of myself, yet also has chronic injury issues related to physical activity, despite daily full body strengthening routine; I know for a fact, some of this shit is just plain genetics.

I know it seems dumb comparing myself to one of the best athletes in the world, I’m just trying to say; I feel his “can’t stay healthy no matter what I do” pain, and he’s really fun to watch when he’s right. So he’s my boy this year.

  13. What’s the over/under date of his first kamikaze into the center field wall? I’m saying May 12 and I’m taking the under

  14. Such a what if career if he could have stayed health. Maybe we can get a couple of good prime years of watching him.
