[Woike] All joking aside. The NBA has an issue with events. The season is too long, regular season games don’t feel special. And on the one night where they can showcase the actual product to casual fans/general public, this is what gets delivered. It’s not great, Bob.

  1. Let’s not pretend that the ASG draws in casual fans or the general public lmfao

This doesn’t happen in any sport. No one who’s trying to get into the NFL is watching the Pro Bowl as their first taste of the sport

  2. All star game needs complete reform

Skills challenge too long and confusing, dunk contest is worn out, 3 point contest boring, all star game is a warmup game

They may as well get rid of all 4 of the events and replace them

  3. Players will literally try harder in summer runs in a closed off gym, then they will in all star games with millions of people watching that helps the sport grow.

  4. The NBA season is no longer than it always has been. It is apparently only an issue in the last 6 or so years. Apparently, the last 70 were a-ok. So it must be something other than the length of the season.

  5. Do ya’ll want a Draymond vs Poole boxing match or a East vs West survivor series elimination kind of match?

  6. Who are these mythical casual fans that watch a league’s all star game without being a fan of the league itself?

  7. Dunk contest just makes it so everyone complains about everything. Thats the one event that actually sucks everything else was fun this weekend.

  8. Every sport’s All Star Game sucks nowadays, because it’s so easy to see all the stars throughout the season and players are no longer dumb enough to risk injury.

People complain or demand we get rid of the ASG as if it’s harmful and not just boring as fuck

  9. The NBA has to have the absolute whiniest media of any pro sports league.

If it’s not shitting on half the players, it’s shitting on the teams, the cities they have to go to to cover games, and now the All Star game and the game itself.

Just shut up and deal with your extraordinarily cool jobs.

  10. I keep being told I shouldn’t care about the potentially greatest game of pick-up basketball of all time. In what world should NBA fans not be enthusiastic about Luka, Joker, Lebron, and KD playing alongside each other? Apparently, I’m dumb for wanting C- defense and a little bit of stakes from the best players on earth.

  11. I truly believe the only people who complain about the regular season are people who don’t actually like basketball. Regular season games feel extremely important towards building chemistry, getting better and in rhythm.

The 2022 season, the Mavs and Celtics both looked like shit for half the year with new coaching, players, injuries etc. Then they both delivered amazing performances in the playoffs after chemistry was established.

I enjoy being able to watch a good basketball game any night I want to during the NBA season. Fuck the casual fans and fuck the general public. Why should we care about the NBA as a business?

  12. The season isn’t too long.

The biggest issues with the NBA currently are nonstop player movement which makes it difficult for the league to build the kind of rivalries the league thrived on until about 2010ish, and the insane number of missed games by star players.

  13. I think the season only feels longer bc you can watch literally every single game and highlight every single day. Before streaming , only the marque games were shown on tv so it felt a little more important and exciting. Just a thought

  14. I honestly think the ASG takes place at the wrong time of the season. It should really be around the halfway point of the season, but we’re so far beyond that now. Teams have maybe 25-30 games left. There’s zero reason for these players to risk anything when the playoffs are so close. Look at the IST, teams were giving it their all for those games to the point where it shocked everyone, but that was early in the season. Change when the game happens so these guys aren’t risking screwing their teams over by getting hurt at the worst time. I don’t blame the players. I blame the NBA for how badly they schedule their seasons.

  15. meanwhile complaining, bitching and moaning are at all time highs. i actaully enjoyed all 3 big events i guess im stupid or something

  16. Idk, maybe they should just make it Monday, Wednesday Friday for east coast and Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday for west coast and have a rest week once every two months.

  17. These are the same dumbasses that judge players’ entire worth on playoff performances. They couldn’t give less of a fuck that the Timberwolves are 1st in the West because nothing matters until the playoffs, apparently.

Every year people bitch about all star weekend. I legit think they look forward to being able to cry about it. We get it, back in the 80’s before you got divorced and went bald, everything was better. Blah, blah, blah. Shut the fuck up about it

  18. The NBA season is not too long if you like basketball…

There are problems with the game but wtf is that specific complaint?

  19. The players do not care about this event, and mostly don’t care about the regular season. And honestly, with the way they’re covered, I don’t blame them! It’s very clear that to the national media nothing matters unless they do it in the playoffs. Nothing an individual player does matters if they don’t do it in the playoffs, as far as the discourse is concerned. When that is the attitude, this is the result.

  20. Can we stop focusing on the length of the season. Players need to play. Stop sitting out in small market games.
