After Rendon said the season should be shorter, he then says this. The Show is a dream for hundreds of people; let someone else more deserving take his spot

  1. Dude has been hurt and checked out since going to LAA. Played 58, 47 and 43 games the last three seasons.

  2. I think a lot folks would be surprised how many professional athletes feel this way. How many of you prioritize your job over your spouse? Your parents and siblings? Your kids? Nobody likes to hear it, because making the majors is a dream none of us will ever realize, but that doesn’t make it any less true. Compared to Real Shit, baseball just doesn’t matter all that much.

Most professional athletes are just that: professionals. They come to work, put in the hours, say the right things to the media, do what they can to to earn their next contract… and then they go home to their families. They make a bunch of money because they have a hyper rare skill set on which we as a society place a high value.

What everyone is *really* mad about is Rendon’s performance in LA on his massive contract. If he were slashing 300/400/500 with 25 dongers in 145 games, nobody would care a whit about how Rendon feels about his job. But he sucks, and people are super mad that he sucks, so they’re going to be extra super mad that he sucks and doesn’t even like baseball as much as them

  3. Rendon is done…He’s just collecting a check now. That said I wouldn’t be against a 154 game season.

  4. It’s a problem for a lot of pro sports.

The more money there is , the more useless people who have “skills”, will get the money cause of potential.

  5. I think the reason a lot of people make it to the bigs is because they look at it and treat it like a job. Kyle tuckers mentioned him being the same.

  6. I mean, if you anonymously polled 100 players I venture to guess 95+ of them would say baseball ranks lower than family and religion to them.

People just don’t want you to say it, with your name behind it, especially when you’re as injured as Rendon always is

  7. On the one hand, it’s perfectly reasonable that your job is not your top priority in life. Good for him.

On the other hand, if you have one of the most desirable jobs in the world and say this, you’re gonna sound like an ungrateful jerk.

  8. I used to be a big fan of him when he was on the Nats and they won the World Series.

    He’s becoming easy to dislike.
