  1. he touched 96 iirc in his rehab start last fall so hopefully he will get closer to that, but seems pretty obvious coming off a second TJ that he isn’t gonna be the same buehler that he was at his peak. fans should probably just accept that. if he can be a middle/backend rotation guy that would be fine considering we have yamamoto, glasnow and bobby.

  2. If he doesnt return to anything close to his original form we might see the end. Im not sure they give him a contract on his walk year

  3. Maybe he could shift to a bullpen role. Save your bullets for when you need them. In any case, his fastball is still better than mine by 80mph.

  4. I never had high hopes for him anyways. That start in Oracle back in 2nd half of 2021 was the last time I believed in Walker’s stuff. (Sticky stuff merchant too btw, somehow completely outperformed his FIP in 2021)

Idk why y’all are mad at this comment. He was awful down the stretch in 2021 (while having a run higher FIP all year) and his 2nd Tommy John just sealed his fate, hate to see it but that’s just the reality. Plus Walker was indeed a sticky stuff merchant, let’s not pretend he wasn’t

  5. He can probably take pointers from Kersh on making sure his fastball can still be effective even with the loss of velocity.

  6. As I called it there is something wrong with Beuhler. This is a LONG rehab. He should be MUCH higher then this. He had a WHOLE normal offseason and should be full go by now.

My guess this is the NEW normal for him. Maybe we can get him to 94? But looks like his old dominate days may be behind him. Good thing the team never signed him to a big deal. Dodged that bullet!

  7. Nathan Eovaldi was just the Rangers’ ace during their World Series run, and his fastball hasn’t averaged less than 95 mph since his second TJ surgery in 2016. Granted he’s the exception and not the rule, but there’s still a glimmer of hope he can be a very good MLB starting pitcher.

  8. Well, I had been thinking about this yesterday, and seeing how Ohtani (still questionable on him pitching next year and thereafter), Yamamoto, and Glasnow under contract for several years or more.

Then there’s Miller, and possibly Sheehan, Grove, and Stone who can become part of the (6 man?) rotation. Paxton for this year, perhaps. Then May comes back perhaps August? Kershaw? Gonsolin?

And the others in the system.

I’m a big Buehler fan. He attacks and he wants the ball. I hope he does well, but with so many options and many are pre-arbitration, I’m not seeing how it happens beyond 2024, with a possible exception of a one year deal so he can prove himself to other clubs that are willing to risk a longer term contract.

  9. it’s February 20, people.

he’s come back from one before. let’s see what he’s looking like on March 20 before we even discuss walker being cooked
