How do you feel about Knox’s contract?

  1. It’d be more appropriate at 30% less. I like him and what he brings but this is a ‘THE’ guy contract. He’s not that

  2. Is this outdated? He’s 7th in AAV. Pitts and Freiermuth figure to jump him in the near future and someone might overpay for Schultz in the near future, then it won’t look so bad.

Him and Bass, man. Both those contracts made me do a double take.

  3. These are this year’s cap hits? Knox’es aav is 9th, and only 500k per year more than 10th and 11th. He’s a middle of the pack guy paid on the high side of middle of the pack over the course of his contract.

  4. Looking at cap hit makes this look worse than it is. He’s ranked 9th in AAV which is probably about where he belongs.

  5. Dude is getting paid too much. I like Knox, but he doesn’t have that kind of performance or all star factor

  6. He’s over paid. And they will take the out after 2024 and save $22m overall in cash and $30m in cap hits.

  7. If you think of it that Bills are paying him for his POTENTIAL then the contract is just fine. If Bills are paying him for what he has done since getting it, NOPE, it really stinks. He clearly is not in Kelce or Kittle ability as he does not have that natural “get open” ability. How many times was KC 3 and 9, you know the ball is going to Kelce and the SOB still is wide open. That is what drives me crazy with anger and envy about KC. Plus, how many times did Knox get hit in both hands and drop the ball? I’m sure the stat is out there, someplace.

  8. He’s badly overpaid and his contract at the time looked bad. Inconsistent receiver. Solid blocker. You can get that for $5M.

  9. I like Dawson Knox on the team and I think Allen REALLY trusts him. But I think he is the TE2 going forward because Kincaid has looked really really good. I thought that we paid to much for Knox when they signed him but I think it looks even worse now that we have a better TE on the roster. I have no idea what they do with Knox but his contract is massive compared to his contributions.

  10. As much love that Beane gets.. he’s absolutely terrible at contracts. The team has 3 whopper contracts that don’t have a legitimate out clause until the final years of the deal.

The Von signing should be enough that there are checks and balances going forward if the team can get out of cap hell and had money to spend again.

If this group wasn’t as good at drafting as it is, there would be some major trouble. Outside of the splash signings that were made in the transition from Whaley to Beane (Hyde, Poyer, Morse), the team has legitimatly done terrible in free agency. Trades don’t look good either, outside of the Douglas trade. Imagine having Teller on this roster still (I noticed him and was shocked he was traded for nothing).

Knox will be gone next season. Probably will be able to be traded. He would be a low risk, 10 million cap hit, cut at any time player/easy to renegotiate a contract, with starting experience that the Bills could get a 3rd round pick for.

  11. I like Knox, he doesn’t cheat the game and he makes big time catches when we need him too and he always seems to elevate his play in the big moments. That said, he’s absolutely not a top 5 TE in this league to be having that cap hit
