We see the number of teams without a SB win drop from 12 to 8.
The Patriots still being the best franchise in NFL history is wild
Hi! I’m new to the NFL. How come the Cowboys stopped showing up in this chart ~30 years ago?
NFC won 12 in a row from 84-96. Don’t think we will see that ever again
Two crazy observations:
1. From 1984-1996, the NFC won 13 straight Superbowls against the AFC. 2. Seven out of the last 10 Superbowls have been won by Brady or Mahommes.
Interesting that the “no appearances” crew has been seeing some better play this past few years.
Wonder who will be the first of the group to crack that nut.
I like that second one.
The alternate timeline is wild to look at.
We’d have the Vikings Dynasty in the 70s
A Broncos Dynasty in the 80s
A Bills Dynasty in the 90s
Imagine Brady starts his career 0-3 in Superbowls then wins the next 2 and one goes 19-0 .
3-7 in Superbowls but goes 19-0 for one of them I wouldn’t take that over 7-3
Poor bills in the 90s…and every other decade
The Green Bay Packers won eleven of the fifty championships before the merger. The Packers also threepeated from 1929–31 and from 1965–67, the only team to do so in NFL history.
The Chicago Bears won eight titles before the merger, and the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, and New York Giants each won four.
I didn’t realize immediately before the Bills lost 4 in a row, the Broncos lost 3 of 4. Crazy 8 year run for the AFC there. That 8 year span from 1986 to 1993 the AFC only sent 3 different teams, who went 0-8. Funnily enough the last 8 Super Bowls, the AFC again only sent 3 different teams, this time 5-3. Nevermind the NFC is crazier. Only sent 5 different teams to the Super Bowl from 1984 to 1995, who went a perfect 12-0. Neat
The Alternate history is interesting to think about.
–The Vikings and Bills become NFL royalty.
–The Patriots are the first and only perfect season *and* get the reputation as Giantslayers with wins over, well, the Giants, but also big upset wins over the ’85 Bears and ’96 Packers.
–Joe Montana becomes a choke artist and Jerry Rice is ringless until he wins XXXVII with the Raiders.
–In more recent history, Mahomes being 1-3 in Super Bowls probably changes the narrative about him right now (though it shouldn’t).
–The narrative for Tom Brady’s career *definitely* changes, as he’s 3-7 in Super Bowls, but also has the 19-0 season. He’s probably remembered more like John Elway in our timeline instead of being the golden boy.
–Kyle Shanahan is probably in the GOAT conversation right now alongside Bud Grant, Marv Levy, and Dan Reeves.
It’s pretty wild the patriots were in 11 super bowls in the 33 years from 1985-2018, and my team is in the big yikes corner.

Baltimore would have most likely been 3-0 if they actually ran the ball
Only one team is at the top of the SB wins and SB losses column. That’s wild as fuck.
Life is pain, Cleveland, Detroit, Jacksonville and Houston. Change history all you like, nothing gets any better.
The Alternate History makes me uncomfortable, and I don’t know why.
Cursed Alt timeline
Bills should really hate the NFC East
Feels nice to be in the no loss category
Bills making 4 SB in a row & losing all of them is something I don’t think we will ever see a franchise achieve again.
Why would teams get to the Super Bowl and not win the game? Are they stupid?
Thumbnail Tom Brady at 7 by himself
The Giants have really popped up to beat some historic teams/dynasties…80s Broncos, 90s Bills, and 2000s Patriots.
Pats with the most wins and most losses is so wild.
Man FIVE Super Bowl losses 😔
Has any fanbase suffered more than the Patriots’
If every SB result were flipped:
Patriots and Broncos: 5
Vikings and Bills: 4
Niners, Cowboys, Dolphins, Rams, Eagles, Bengals: 3
Steelers, Washington, Raiders, Chiefs, Colts, Seahawks, Panthers, Falcons: 2
Packers, Giants, Bears, Chargers, Titans, Cardinals: 1
We see the number of teams without a SB win drop from 12 to 8.
