  1. On track for 37-45

We made it interesting, but outplayed by a more veteran Kings team in the final minute

    Go Spurs Go

  2. Wemby one assist away from a 5×5

    Single digit loss

    I’ll take it!

(Even though I just watched the last quarter intermittently LMAO)

  3. C&Ping from the game thread: Still don’t understand his decision to take a three in the clutch with 8 secs on the clock without being set in the least. WHEN ALL HE NEEDED WAS ONE ASSIST!!!

  4. Nearly had em.

Wemby couldn’t buy a jumper tonight but almost had a 5×5. Defense again terrible when Wemby sits. Thought we had em after Devin’s 3. Oh well

  5. Some bad plays by Vic down the stretch.

Oh well hard to beat a good team like that on their home floor. Good learning experience at least.

  6. wemby really had 19/13/4/5/5 and still lost the game for us (dunno how to feel about this)

  7. Wemby kinda cost us the game with so many bad shots.

But overall a very good game. I also hope we target a solid two way PG either in the draft or the free agency. Tre is good on offense but sucks on defense and Wesley is good on defense (mostly) but has no offensive game

  8. what happened?? I had a notification that the spurs was up with like 2 minutes left, I sit down and they lost by 5

  9. Only one to blame here is Wemby for this game. Hate to say it, but I think Draymond was right. Wemby does TOO much stuff sometimes. He needs to find his strengths and where his spots are. He needs a go-to move. He throws everything at a wall and sees what sticks and while it looks cool, I can’t say this style of play is winning basketball. Luckily, I think both Wemby and especially Pop are starting to realize that. Id like to see Wemby practice only ONE move that he’s good at the entire off-season. Wemby is super special. But he needs learn how to MASTER something. He is the jack of all trades, master of none right now (besides shot-blocking. I’m mostly talking about offensively)

  10. Thinking positively. If none of us watch this game and just looked at the box score and how close it was we would have considered this a moral victory. Vic stuffed the stat sheet, Devin had a great game, and we barely lost to a good team at home.

But at the same time this definitely gets added to a disturbingly long list of games that we were in the driver seat to win this year and just made some poor decisions. I love Vic, and he had a couple of stretches in this game where he looked dominant and his ability to control the flow. But as a whole he never really got into a good groove, and looked a little bit like how he did back in November where he was taking shots not within the flow of the offense and kind of forcing things. Those last two shots just weren’t it. He should have gotten the ball back to Devin on that 3-point attempt for sure.

But there was still a lot to like in this game. Victor’s a monster even when he is having an off night, as a 20-year-old rookie.

Him and Devin are really starting to figure the two-man game out. That’s going to be deadly

And Jeremy, I thought played a really smart measured game today. He missed a few easy ones but I loved his shot selection and I thought he made some good reeds on defense too

Johnson was as roller coaster as ever with some of the worst stretches of basketball I’ve seen from him all season, and then a burst there in the second half were he really kept us in the game Almost single-handedly.

Also, I don’t like to complain about refs but I just have to say this was an extremely poorly officiated game on both ends. There was no consistency at all and it felt like the refs were going back and forth on trying to make up for how they called things in a previous quarter with stretches where they let guys beat the heck out of each other, followed by a bunch of ticky tack calls.

Anyway solid game, and hopefully they build off of it tomorrow

  11. We played a full 48 minute game, and played a style of basketball where we executed plays better instead of relying on hard shots from our main go to’s. Happy about that.

  12. I came home with the Spurs up and all I got to see was the collapse the last 2:30.

I’m happy we kept it close.

I feel like I’m bad luck for the Spurs.

  13. I don’t know why Wemby took those type of shots all game. he was doing that type of stuff last year and he did it again tonight I don’t understand it. And for whatever reason whenever he misses a game or is off for awhile he comes back playing a lot worse than normal. I don’t get it.

  14. Devin Vassell has arrived. It’s nice finally seeing him take it to the hoop. Just as we were all saying, him being a threat in the paint has opened up his game so much. The next step is to develop a nice 2 man game with Wemby. There were a few possesions tonight where he passed away from Wemby but Wemby would’ve had an easy shot if Devin had passed it to him.

Wemby shooting 8-21 and we only lost by 5? This team is coming along nicely.

  15. Some thoughts:

Jeremy needs to finish 60% harder. These layups are leaving so much on the table.

Devin has unlocked his penetration game and it’s great to see. It’s going to give him great looks from outside for the rest of the year.

I miss the old Keldon. He’s not even the player he was when he was starting earlier this season. There are flashes but something’s missing and I hope he finds it.

Wemby was off tonight but that seems to be a theme with him coming off long layoffs. The other theme is even when he’s off he has a great game for nearly any other big in the league.

Tre is still getting caught in no man’s land on drives. He’s getting better at finding his way out but too many drives to the basket with no plan are costly.

Blake and Malaki out there at the same time wasn’t a tragedy on O or D. That bodes well for both of them.

Julian looks like he found his range again but still is struggling with defense which is keeping his minutes down.

No 3s from Zach! It’s the end of an era. Even his post game looks like it’s coming back. In a game with poor defense all around, he didn’t stand out. Progress?

The loss once again came down to mistakes by a young team. They’ll need to clean that up but overall it was a good first game out of the break. It should be a fun ride through the end of the season.

    GSG
