Post Game Thread: The Boston Celtics defeat The New York Knicks 116-102

1. The Celtics are the top team in the the NBA, fully healthy and went nuclear from 3 (and from the floor in general). No reason for us as fans to hang our heads or be overly critical of our guys. We didn’t stand a chance tonight. Looking forward to eventually getting OG, Julius and Mitch back.

2. Celtics size mismatch was apparent all night nothing much we can do about that missing key guys. I think getting guys like Randle, OG, And Mitch back would def help us match up better defensively. I def feel out of any team in the East we are the biggest threat to the Celtics depending on health.

   Side note I thought Burks was pretty bad tonight and just seems out of control in his shot selection. I like him more in a catch n shoot role vs on the ball. I know Thibs trusts Burks but I think he needs to be on a tighter leash. We also need to not play drop coverage when KP is on the floor and put a body on him. Thibs has to adjust the way he defends stretch 5s.

3. Fuck it, we made them work for that W. I am glad the boys stayed hustling like crazy while shorthanded.

   When we are healthy, we can give them hell!

4. Deuce shouldn’t be playing less minutes than Burks

5. Why just aren’t a good team without Julius and Og. Some of you guys have some very admirable aversion to dooming, but it really is delusion to suggest otherwise. Put this team over a full 82 and they’re probably like 42-40 at best.

   I know people want to scapegoat burks and Bojan for whatever reason, but it’s such misplaced anger. They look worse because they’re playing without the guy who was supposed to carry them on defense and we would lose these games without them too. It’s not like the pre pistons trade Knicks come even close to winning this or any recent losses.

   Just hate on fate for getting this incredible team injured. Tragic

    Celtics went 9-11 from 3 in the 3rd. If they shoot 6-11 from 3, it’s an entirely different game.

    Also if one of KP, Tatum or Brown get hurt the team is kinda fucked.

    Beat the Pistons and Pelicans the next two games and start another run

19. they are the best team in the league. our record isnt screwed. with who we have right now, we cant shoot threes like them and we cant play enough defense. everybody here should be happy that jalen is avwraging over 30 points a night despite everything going wrong.

20. I hate everything ESPN. I hate every time we have a game on ESPN…..I hate when Doris Burke calls our game. Shit even Mike Breen doesn’t even sound right on ESPN. Hearing him gas up the Celtics is fucking annoying. There is a reason why I don’t watch ESPN anything. Hack of a fucking network.

22. I was hating on Burks when he got traded and played his first few games and i’m still here now. What a fucking bum. Shouldn’t see a MINUTE in a fully healthy rotation.

    Bojan surprisingly is one too. He’s had ONE good game, and FOUR terrible ones. Legit what does he offer this team if he’s not going to make wide open shots? These guys are gonna lose favor with the fans very quickly, and with Thibs even quicker.

    These two clowns are about to be Fournier’ed, as soon as OG/Randle/Mrob comes back. Hart will the the backup 3, Precious the backup 4.

    We traded Grimes for two players who will not sniff playoff minutes.

26. Just gotta keep telling myself that og and Randle are coming back. The issue is that we have no idea when, and our playoff positioning is getting fucked in the mean time. I think fully healthy we could have been too 3. But now we’ll be lucky to keep 4 at this rate

27. We should have done Fournier and a first for Bogey and kept Grimes.

29. Burks and Bogey looked terrible tonight. I’ll chalk this up to them still figuring out their roles on this team because they clearly don’t look comfortable.

32. It’s really tough because we might fall into the 5th seed. With the injuries…..#2 seems out reach and I don’t know if the bucks stumble. It’s looking like at Knicks vs sixers first round.

35. I just want Burks off this team. I cannot deal with him on any level. Literally makes me want to rip my eye sockets out.

36. This game means nothing, other than what we already know C’s are very good.

37. That stunk, but credit to the guys for keeping it respectable for 3 quarters. Some things to note…

    JB had a good game, but bigger PGs, like Holiday, can abuse him if we have no-one to help. Hope OG can help with that when he comes back. JB has to do everything offensively for us to have a shot with Randle out, and that can work for 3 quarters against some/most teams, but it can also mean he’ll have nothing left in the 4th most likely. Also means that if JB gets cold, our chances nosedive fast.

    Hart being our 2nd best scorer is a non-starter, and Divo only shooting 4-12 overall (though 4-8 from 3) just isn’t cutting it. 7 turnovers b/w these 2 is also ludicrous.

    Precious is what he is. He tries really hard, and has played admirably, but he can’t shoot really. He can’t shoot anywhere from 3 outside of the corners, and even then, it’s iffy. Teams know he can’t really shoot and will exploit it, so we’ll have to find a way around it at some point.

    Burks and Bogdanovic… I don’t envy them. Team isn’t fully healthy, so where they’ll be in the rotation is still up in the air. Still, the lack of defense is apparent. Bogdanovic is too slow, and Burks just isn’t much of a defender.

    Burks’ is way down in the valleys of his play right now. We’ve seen his ups and downs in the past and will have to just work with it. Thing is, judging from his body language when he was sitting on the bench next to JB when JB got subbed out for the last time, he seems to know he’s not playing well. We can rag on him, but it won’t help anything. Once everyone’s back healthy, I have a feeling he’ll play better once his role becomes clearer. Same could be said for Bogdanovic.

    I wish we could find more minutes for Deuce. He brings more defense than Burks and Bogdanovic, but I don’t know how much Thibs wants to play him.

    Boston’s bigs, and other stretch bigs will be a problem no matter what. Boston’s size was also a problem. I don’t entirely know how we counter either problem healthy or not.

    That’s it, I think. Would love to know what Boston puts in the water for them to shoot so well from 3, but that shooting was a symptom, not the root cause for this loss.

38. If Detroit shoots the ball like that, no team in the NBA could beat them. So when the best team in the NBA does it, losing by 14 sucks, but there wasn’t much you could have done. Take the L and move on. We were tied with them in the third before they activated NBA2K mode.

39. – A full-strength, in-form Celtics team versus a short-handed Knicks team. Everyone knew how this would go. At least it wasn’t easy for them
    – Brunson, Hart, Divo, & Deuce still had a go. Fair play to them!
    – The Celtics are good, but the city of Boston never will be.
    – Get healthy, tend our wounds, and file this one away **immediately.**

40. We played well for who we had. The Celtics starters were in it until 1 minute left lol. When the score was 99-90, could’ve made a push there. Divo and Bogie didn’t shoot well, had they shot better Knicks could’ve made a run. But boy oh boy Alec Burks is just shooting just to shoot.

    Celtic fans are really thrilled for beating an undermanned-frontcourt team, I think their shitting bricks haha.

41. Impressed this squad could run with the Celtics but chemistry was clearly un-Knick like. Missing Randle’s strength in the paint and OG’s menacing presence on D affected the spacing.

    Bog and Burk were trying to do too much. Burk looked unbelievably lost and short a step. Bog looked like he was still trying to figure out how he fits in.

    Once the starters return, this unit will be what we all signed up to to see. That said, the Celtics will be tough to beat if they manage to stay healthy.
