Packers GM Brian Gutekunst said he hasn’t made a move w/LT David Bakhtiari cuz he doesn’t like to make decisions before he has to. He certainly doesn’t want to carry his cap number once the league starts. “Like to have a decision before that,” BG said just now at the combine.

   David realizes the Org has done right by him. He has had a lot of unfortunate injuries and unfortunate rehabs. But I think he has another couple years left at a reduced capacity. He proved he was still an above average LT Week 1 last year. If he can restructure his deal where het gets paid the originally guaranteed money, but his cap is spread to the next 3 years (24-26, so now you are looking at 13M per year for the next 3 years). He gets to be the veteran who plays lights out 8-12 games a year but also coaches up the next young LT in the process. its unorthodox but I think it could work with all the young talent on this offense, it is loaded on paper based on the second half of 2023.

3. March 13th is when Gute has to make a decision. On the 14th, Bakh is owed a $9.5m roster bonus.
