  1. May be a smoke screen but I think it’s a very real possibility that they fall in love with a wr and wait until the second for a tackle

I’m personally team BPA. Whether that’s an o lineman or a wide receiver, I’m good either way.

  2. I think there is a very real possibility that both Tackles are gone by pick 7. I guess it will probably come down to odunze or nabors.

As long as they get the best player available, can’t be too bad I guess.

  3. I’d agree with him if his statement could be extrapolated as, “If my WR room and my OL room are both on equal footing in terms of talent, and I am choosing between a WR and a tackle that are both similarly talented at their respective positions, I’ll take the guy that can score TDs.”

As it stands though, our WR room, though certainly below average, does not *touch* how historically terrible our current OL talent is. It’s not a fun position to be in, but it doesn’t matter how good your offensive skill position players are if your offensive line is causing plays to die half a second after the ball is snapped. It doesn’t matter what type of offense you run, you build from the trenches outward. Going LT is boring as hell, but constructing a strong OL with long-term anchors at your tackle positions is a critical component of building championship caliber rosters. You simply can’t skip that step.

I won’t rage if we draft Nabers, but I will see it as Ran and Brian Callahan making a huge, risky bet on Callahan Sr.’s ability to take our current OL talent, with the addition of some mid-round rookies and maybe a value free agent signing or two, and turning them into a solidly above average offensive line within two seasons. If our offensive line is still holding us back then, the theoretical decision to skip on Alt or Fashanu in favor of a WR will hurt Ran’s long-term prospects here.

  4. We’re in a good spot either way. I think this is 50% smoke screen and 50% reality. If they keep talking up the WR’s, maybe a team just below us gets trigger happy and trades up for a WR, and they still get an OL. Or they just take Nabers/Odunze and call it a day. Either way I like putting out a stance to have other teams guessing about what we’ll do.

  5. Could be prime smokescreen season but these interviews have been very telling, sounds like we will look at a receiving weapon over O line, with confidence to pick up some O line in the later rounds

  6. I’m not reading into this too much. Nabers or MHJ vs Alt or Fashanu is all things being equal. Those guys are all about the same level of prospect. In that situation he prefers a WR.

But chances are things will absolutely not all be equal. Either the tackles or the WRs will be gone by the time we’re picking.

This is a classic nothingburger quote.

  7. Everyone will hate me, but I say trade up for MHJR.

If Callahan is what he’s supposed to be, he should be able to get this line to….. 18-22nd best in the league? with a few picks and signings?

MHJR will make us forget the name AJ Brown, give us a superstar for ten years to pair with Levis, and piss colts fans off.

If you’re gonna do the WR thing, do it. Don’t pussyfoot this.

  8. It’s really going to come down to who’s available at 7 and the internal draft board. Just draft someone who will be an instant plug/play starter

  9. What I wouldn’t give for our O Line to be equal to all other things. We gotta bring them way up for all things to be equal.
