  2. Basu also said Savard might have played his last game yesterday with us…

It’s better be a package because I prefer Savard’s experience for our young players then a 3rd pick

Edit : As user/mdlt97 pointed out and user/Shogun2909 linked, I was wrong, Savard might get traded at trade deadline(march 8th) and not now

  3. Savard should be kept on. A 2nd round pick or middle six prospect is not worth the gap in teaching the young d-line.

  4. Yeah. I feel like Savard is worth more to us at this point than any picks outside the first round. We have a ton of picks and prospects already. He’s on a great deal. Unless he wants out to chase another cup I don’t see why we’d deal him.

  5. Pagnotta is a master rumor-mongerer. He has no real inside sources, has broken 1 news in his entire career (Tavares signing with TO) and has turned words manipulation into an artform.

“People across the NHL” could be anybody from players (zero knowledge of trade talks) to other beat journalists (so 3rd, 4th hand info).

“Nobody would be surprised” means nothing. It has zero weight. “Being surprised” is intangible.

This is just Pagnotta’s Twitter habit of retweeting his own site to drive traffic. The article itself doesn’t have any solid info. “It is believed” does some very heavy lifting there. Just what anybody here could write themselves.

  6. I imagine best case scenario is a 1rst – perhaps Nashville would be willing to part with Tampa’s 2025 1rst. It’s a big price to pay considering Tampa’s uncertain future but if Nashville are no longer a bubble team next year, they can recoup value by trading Savard again. One can dream…

If a 1rst round pick is too much to ask, it would have to be a high second round pick for Habs management to entertain trading this year. Example is Winnipeg’s 2024 2nd round (Mtl’s 2nd round pick that went to ARI-LAK-WPG) which is projected at around 37-40 overall.

  7. At this point I’d be more keen on selling high on Matheson and keeping Savard for another season.
