  1. I mean you’re asking a very broad question… If they drafted him at 14 i’d be pissed lol… If they traded up to the 3rd round and took him then i’d be happy they did that. He’s a good QB that needs some work

  2. I think Pratt would shine in Kubiak’s system. He’s currently projected as a 3rd or 4th round QB, so we could address other needs in the first two rounds and then keep him in New Orleans on Day 3.

  3. I would feel like “where” he’s drafted would affect my feeling. The first, angry… the 7th, happy… the 4th, wouldn’t suprise me if we targeted him there.

  4. Would feel great with a mid round pick used on him, think there’s a decent chance he turns out better than Nix

  5. In the 1st or 2nd round, I’d be pretty upset. We don’t have any 3rd or 4th round picks, so we’d probably have to trade up to get him in his projected range, so… I’d still be kind of upset.

I like Pratt. I just don’t think it makes a ton of sense this year.

  6. wasted pick when the Saints have so few assets. Day 2/3 QBs rarely work out and the Saints have already tried this 2 of the past 3 drafts with Ian Book and Jake Haener.

  7. I like him a lot if it’s a 2nd or 3rd round pick I’d love it def would make Jameis expendable and heaner would be out a job imo

  8. It depends on the round:
    1 or 2 F- disaster,
3-5 can work out I guess,
    6-7 sure why not.

  9. I’d feel like I’m tired of the team burning middle-rounds draft capital on mid-tier QBs, and that eventually they’ll have to bite the bullet and pull the trigger on a stud first round QB.

Saints have a long and storied history of taking QBs *outside* of the first round. For the sake of brevity, I’ll only go back to 2000:

    – Marc Bulger (’00 6th) great career, elsewhere.
    – JT O’Sullivan (’02 6th) career backup, youtube channel is good
    – Adrian McPherson (’05 5th) hit by golf cart
    – Sean Canfield (’10 7th) cut in training camp, signed to practice squad.
    – G Grayson (’15 3rd) had high hopes for this one; he hung around 4 season, 0 starts
    – Tommy Stevens (’20 7th) gadget-type, converted to TE
    – Ian Book (’21 4th) actually had a start Covid season, played like ass
    – Jake Haener (’23 4th) also traded a 4th and a 7th to move up for him. Jury still out, but they invested a bit to get him.

My point is this; that’s over 20 years of drafting, and not one QB worth a damn to show for it (Bulger being the exception, who didn’t have success in NOLA but did elsewhere). Barely backup quality QBs on the list, nothing remotely close to a competent starter (except Bulger).

So I actually like Pratt, and think he projects as a top-tier backup, possibly becoming more down the road. So I’m not knocking him. But I am against spending another 4th round pick on a QB when that could be used on depth along the lines, on a potential nickleback, or even taking a shot at drafting a LB to learn behind D Davis.

The next time the Saints draft a QB, it needs to be with a plan in place to have him become the eventual starter, imo. No more spending picks on career backups or practice squadders; get the long term future franchise QB.
