[Meirov] By releasing Russell Wilson, the Broncos will take on an NFL record $85M in dead money. For context: That’s more than the last two dead money records combined.

Not great, Jim

  1. Lol for some reason this is going to be a surprise for so many people on this sub that dont realize how dead cap works. Saw so many people arguing Broncos are just going to forfeit the 2024 portion. Like no, the 2025 part is also guaranteed lmao.

  2. Well, if your going to do something, at least make sure your the best at it… am I right?

  3. Does this mean we’re taking the cap hit all at once or splitting it over two years?

  4. Once again, I ask why the fuck did we agree to an extension with him? Like serious? What’s the point?

  5. For anyone wondering it means the Broncos will take on $35.4 million in dead cap for 2024 and $49.6 million in 2025. So this is a two year thing/spread.

  6. I am extremely impressed with this regime’s willingness to cut bait with bad contracts as early as possible.

  7. If you’re gonna get fucked hard by a dick might as well be a big one too I guess.

  8. $85 million in dead cap over two years, but how much would his salary have been those two seasons if he were on the roster?

  9. Let’s just start keeping tract – Wilson – Gregory – Clark ouch that is alot of cash given for players that aren’t on our roster.

  10. It definitely was coming, getting a QB is a certainty in the 1st round. Plan B would be Nix and C Penix, imo.
These figures for sure are the definition of dead money, and most teams recover longer than expected. Hope that’s not our case, so tired of not being competitive enough and missing the playoffs.

  11. just take the full 85, no need to split. draft to fill as many holes this draft pretty much suck all next season get the #1 pick and a bunch of cap space to reload the roster.
