Why Does Eric Allen Get Continuously Snubbed for the HOF?

Doesn’t make sense to me, he has the stats and the awards.

  1. His career got a bit lost in the sauce.
He played for Eagles teams that – while good – got overshadowed by their NFC East rivals in terms of on-field success, so they’d get less national pub to showcase him. Not a lot of playoff success. Also got unlucky in Oakland as they lost to a great Ravens team that won the SB, and got boned in the tuck rule game, which was his last ever.
Also, he had some all-time serious competition in terms of other HOFers that played the same position around the same time. Such as: Darrell Green, Deion Sanders, Rod Woodson, and Aeneas Williams.

  2. The only time I hear his name is when people complain about him getting snubbed, so that probably doesn’t help.

  3. Because inducting Devin Hester’s overrated ass is clearly a bigger priority. He’ll probably get in sooner rather than later, but I feel they’re waiting until the last second.

  4. No superbowls. He has peers with rings and there is way too much bias towards teams that won than great players on teams that never won. Half the time, it was star players that elevated the team, but you see all these steel curtain guys or cowboys from the 90s in the HOF whereas Allen was consistently good in his career, but had no rings.

Same thing happened to a lesser extent to Dawkins. Bellicheck spoke up and called out how it is ridiculous to consider any of Dawkins safety peers ahead of him. His numbers spoke for themselves, but he had no rings, so guys like reed, Lynch and Palumalu were being discussed as sure things and people seriously debated Dawkins when his impact and stats were better than all of those players.

The one that pisses me off is they put Hester in this year. He is not deserving at all. Good at 1 aspect of the game and had no other stats of note. If a returner can get in, Allen should be in.
