  1. He tweeted earlier that it’s 3-4 years so it’s probably $10M over 3 years. Wild.

  2. I’m good with that, a little high but cap space isn’t too much of an issue.

  3. IS this guy actually a legit source?

If true, I like it. Better than what was rumored before. Seeler BLEEDS ORANGE!

  4. I like this a lot. Can’t have 5 of your D-Men being 24 or younger. You need someone back there who can teach and show the boys how to make it in the NHL.

  5. What clowns. 30+ yr old bottom pair Dman who doesn’t fit your timeline. I get you like his toughness / leadership, and nobody offered you assets for how you value him, ride it out for the playoffs and talk in the offseason. But ultimately if he wants that money, they should thank him for his time and move on. No reason we should be giving someone like this a multi year deal that’s 3+ M after 1 outlier year. Flyers just never learn.

  6. Regardless of how you feel about the sign/trade discourse, Seeler got what he earned. Happy to see the player get rewarded for all the hard work.

  7. I really like Seeler and want to keep him but that is a little high if true. I was thinking more of $2.5 for 2 or 3 years. Not a crazy difference but I guess we will see.

I guess they feel he is a good piece for the next few years.

  8. Dumb franchise about to make another dumb decision. I’m shocked.

Never envisioned Nick Seeler setting the market for 30+ year old bottom pair defenseman, but here we are.

  9. In a vacuum I hate it. If we’re trading Walker and Risto?  Sure, it’s fine then.

  10. It’s funny how people say third pair like that is useless. But on the road that is who matches up against first and second lines. Very important.

  11. Fair price and fair length. Solid veteran that the young players can look to for the next 3 years. How anyone can complain about this is insane

  12. That’s too much, but not totally atrocious. A slight overpay for three years shouldn’t hurt the rebuild. Especially if you move him somewhere along the way.

Really, really wanted it to be like 2 x 2.25 though… First time I’m not totally on board with Danny’s decision.

  13. This guy almost quit hockey and know he’s about to get like 10 mil so that’s cool. Sucks that we’re the ones doing it tho

  14. I hate this organization. They just can’t help themselves.

And this sub is fully in “authentic fan” homer mode. They could sign Mike Rathje out of retirement to a 6 year deal and people would
    justify it.

  15. I don’t think Seeler was gonna bring back more than maybe a 3rd tbh. Little more expensive than I would have thought but really don’t think this moves the needle in the rebuild one way or another. I don’t hate it. It’s whatever.

  16. I have mixed feelings on this. I don’t think any other team would pay Seeler 3.3mil. This hardly feels like the team friendly, hometown discount-type deal I was hoping for considering the dude has consistently said he’s wanted to stay here. I think Danny had the wiggle room to wait for the offseason, for him to test free agency even, then pay him less than this considering we’d probably have a competitive offer at the rumored 2.5mil, as an example.

That said, the expectation obviously is that the cap will increase, so this only hurts from a cap perspective for this upcoming season, when that probably matters the least because it’s not like we’re eating to sign some expensive free agents.

  17. If we’re a rebuilding team why do people care about a 3 year deal? Great veteran presence and very good player. You weren’t getting more than a 3rd rounder for him.

  18. Everyone crying cause he’s blocking “prospects”.

What exactly have attard and andrae done in the ahl that screams high end prospect or even just better than seeler?

Term is short, 3.3 is about average for a #5 I believe. And the cap is going up again. It’s fine.

  19. More than anticipated was thinking $2.2M/2 considering his age but happily overpay a guy like Seeler who has been an Organization 1st guy since day 1. This is a Win Win for everyone

  20. I get that Seeler has been good but if Brad Shaw is the mastermind that everyone says he is then why couldn’t we just find another Nick Seeler. To my eyes, he’s not that great with the puck and most of his value is from is defensive play and his character. Feels like we could get a lot of guys to fill that same role on 1-2 year contracts for 1-2 mil. Now we have to pray that Seeler doesn’t fall off even though he blocks a ton of shots and only has 2 good seasons to his name (one of those on a really bad team).

  21. EF said allegedly said there may be something with the Flyers and Chychrun. Big grain of salt.

  22. See they haven’t learned from ristolainen or macdonald. Same old flyers giving out big contracts to mediocre players.
