Potential Trade for Mekhi Becton?

I’m still 100% on board with drafting an offensive tackle in the first round but depending on what the asking price would be, I’m all about a potential trade for Mekhi Becton. He’s obviously super athletic and has had major struggles with injury. Worst case: we start our young rookie and best case, maybe this guy finally fulfills his potential.

Let me know what you think of this proposed trade and how much you think the Jets would demand for him? That’s the part I really can’t decide: anything third round and under I think would be a good deal for us.

  1. Dude is too big for his joints

Basically lighting money on fire unless we shelve him until playoffs

  2. I’d take him and still draft the best OL possible. Fuaga I think plays guard as well as tackle.

We do REALLY need two improvements on our OL>

  3. From the Googles…

Becton will officially enter free agency at the start of the NFL year on **March 13 at 4 p.m. ET**. He may, however, begin negotiating with other teams beginning on March 11, the start of the league’s legal tampering period

  4. We don’t seem to have the right coaches in place for a guy like him. My bet is that he goes to Tennessee and Bill Callihan will unlock his potential.

  5. Between the article where you mentioned that the Bengals were planning to cut BJ Hill, to this, where you talk about trading for a guy who is a free agent, it’s safe to say this industry just isn’t for you. Casual fans know more about this stuff than you do, so just stop posting your articles, unless you’re going to do even the bare minimum amount of research.

  6. I hate how people just shout down other fans opinions. We’re not pulling linemen out of the couch cushions so take everything with a grain of reality, we need a RT, we also need depth. where and who do fans expect us to target, either in FA or through the draft that aligns traditionally with what we do. We like young versatile players traditionally, value signings, mid tier difference makers. Chido, BJ, Mike Hilton, Vonn Bell, Hayden Hurst as some of the examples. We got OBJ at an amazing price, we will NOT get into a bidding war, we will NOT overpay, and we will NOT depend on the mercy of the board to dictate the future of the right side of our line. You think we’re gonna trade for one? With what pieces? What picks?? So again, the people throwing out all the downvotes and shitting on people for saying the FO would kick the tires with this guy to alleviate the need to grab a RT in R1 and be able to draft BPA, how about offering an alternative or
    your reasoning?

  7. OL, CB, & DL are positions you truly should be constantly taking stabs at. Even the teams who grab a QB not out of necessity, just out of preemptive striking due to value, talk ad nauseam about how it’s better to have them and not need them than needing them and being desperate to acquire them.

  8. I will admit: I didn’t realize he was a free agent this year. That being said, it just makes it easier for us to sign him so literally all of the rest of it stands.

  9. Sign Eluemunor and he instantly becomes our most athletic lineman. And doesn’t have a sordid injury history.

    No to Becton.

  10. How is this guy still allowed to post here? Literally only posts links to articles he wrote on this website, half his articles are low quality opinion pieces or straight up factually incorrect (like this one), and he only engages with the community in the threads of articles he posts.

Pretty clear he’s just doing this for his own personal gain (clicks, I guess)
