I expect Almonte will also hang around. I know last year wasn’t good, but two years ago he was lights out and his new changeup grip seems to be having success. With players like Palencia who have real upside but options left, I suspect the Cubs will keep Almonte, only dropping him if he struggles. Injuries are real and that would allow tue Cubs to maintain depth, something they are clearly concerned with.
I think Leiter Jr is out, the rest in
I was about to ask why Morel wasn’t there, because I checked spotrac a couple days ago and it said he had 0 options left, but I refreshed today and he has 1 now so they must have been wrong. They also still have Alzolay listed as a starting pitcher so I don’t know how reliable they are. Anyways, I think they’ll all make the opening day roster
